Games in the JSW mould
Right, folks. I need you all to suggest to me games that are like Jet Set Willy (but aren't JSW, obviously). By this I mean platform games, set over several (preferably loads) of flick-screen (ie the player can pass from room to room at will) rooms where the aim is to collect objects and each screen has a name displayed on the screen.
On you go...
On you go...

Errrr ... maybe not quite ... the ones listed are more of a MM type. But I believe the La Pugly Ugly game is definitely a PGD(JSW-style) game ;-)
Brian Bloodaxe didn't really have names on each screen but aside from that it fits the description.
How about Chuckie Egg 2: Choccy Egg? I've always thought it was a better game than the reviews gave it credit for.
Also The Happiest Days Of Your Life or the Wally Week games...
And Kings Keep isn't flick screen, but may be suitable nonetheless (it's quite a good little game too).
EDIT: Or Spiky Harold?
I loved that game I may play it sometime soon now you've mentioned it :)
I think this was definitely one of the first 10 Speccy games I finished, I bought it on a saturday afternoon and all my friends thought it was crap. I stuck with it and got my 2 quids worth out of it, and it was worth every penny.
It doesn't have titled screens, and the hero has a jetpack instead of a jump, but for some reason when people say JSW like games this one pops into my head. Maybe it's cos' I spent so long playing it when I was a kid, or maybe it's just cos' Willy got a space suit in JSWII and this reminds me of him a bit? :D
I wouldn't say these games are like JSW
But the criteria mentions flick screen platform games, where you have to collect objects and which have individually named rooms.
In that sense, the later Dizzy games and Seymour Goes To Hollywood are also worth a mention too.
Granted, they aren't anything like JSW but they're worth checking out nonetheless.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
I should be more specific and point out that by "collect the objects" I don't mean in an arcade-adventure way of taking "X" and using it at "Y", I mean as in collecting a number of items to complete the game or open doors etc. Good examples of games that count are Subterranean Nightmare and (if I remember it correctly) Heist 2012.

I'd personally recommend ZX Heroes (best JSW rewrite ever, and by my old mate Igor), Frosya, Carnival Macabre, Willy's Afterlife, the F*cked Internet trilogy (by our own DM_Boozefreak), Maria vs. Some B*st*rds, Bulgarian Requiem, Monstrum, Speaceman Willy, J4 and Willy the Hacker. And if you want some really hard JSW games, try Andrew's own rewrites, but beware, they're harder than trying to find a good new comedy on BBC3.
Oh, and no one's mentioned Archeoligist yet:

It's not great, but it is OK.
I'm trying to look at it but I keep getting this:

Are they personal diseases or spectrum games? :???:
i had a bit of devils crown once, live yohgurt cleared it right up.
Mile I already said Caves of Doom, but good call on Devils Crown I likes that game I does :D
EDIT: Nope No JSW data found, I guessed there wouldn't be once I started playing it.
Though who would want to play games in jet set willy mould.:???:
i thought i had some 'jet set willy mould' round my 'cave of doom'. turns out it was choclate flavour peanut butter. relieved? i certainly was.
Are you sure it was peanut butter? You wanna check under your hat to make sure you haven't got any sweetcorn lodged in there :D
very amusing, can we get back on topic tho.
what about the ollie and lisa games, didn't you have to collect things in them?
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!!! :p
...and maybe Underwurlde.
Just you, and I guess me as well now
