Based on the 2 loading screens you've found it doesn't look like his style.
What I meant was that the "Cain" signature on the fake loading screen could have been inserted to make it look more authentic, since Steven Cain did other Imagine work in 1984.
I have to confess to thinking along the same lines as Karingal.
I have no evidence, so I apologise in advance to zxspecticle if I am wrong.
My suspicion was triggered after I offered a pretty thorough explanation as to why the originally posted disk had to be an 8" disk. zxspecticle's immediate reply of "It looks like a 5.25 to me " immediately made me think "Did you read what was posted, or are you in on it?"
But as I say I do not have the benefit of viewing the webserver logs and I'm sorry if I'm wrong, but your post zxspecticle did make me wonder.
In any case it is definitely someone who posted on this thread, before Fogartylee posted, so that does narrow it down to a small number of posters.
Hopefully the truth will come out eventually - and the true identity of our "IP sharing" friend is revealed on here. This is what I would like to see, to resolve this issue for sure. :)
And I would have gotten away with it, if it wasn't for all you meddling kids!
Just for curiosity, how did you do the loading screen? The "Imagine" logo looks very nice, yet it is not from any real Imagine game - they always used the diagonaly one.
The biggest mistake was trusting to Google images to pick a correct 5.25" disk image - I've not used or seen one for such a long time I couldnt remember what they looked like. Should have taken more time with that one.
5.25" disks were used by the Sage IV development systems.
The writing on the disk was done with a handwriting font in Photoshop - the words after "Bandersnatch development disk" are "load PDOS first!!!" - this is one of the operating systems used on the Sage IV's
Steve Cain - worked on the megagames.
Paul Lindale worked with John Gibson the programmer on Stonkers.
The loading screen was done yesterday using Claus Jahn's excellent ZX-Paintbrush - it's all original.
I hope it gave you a few hours of amusment - I was hoping for at least a weeks worth of leg pulling!!!
Even if you had have done a better job with the fake pictures, I would have demanded to be shown the originals in person anyway, being in Liverpool myself and all.
You can only fool some if the people some of the time....

Hehe, I was about to suggest the same myself, as I work in Liverpool.
zxspecticle, Thanks anyway for the bit of a laugh.
If I wanted to do this prank I would have photographed a 5.25" disk myself so that it couldn't be matched on the Internet.
Anyhow, it was a humourous diversion for a while. :D
Now that everything's been said and done, when do we gather in Liverpool for the punishment to be carried out? I've already secured a good amount of feathers, who brings the tar?

It's also pulling the image off the Internet, where surely it will be found by a suspicious debunker, such as Karingal.
If you're making a hoax like this you have to take your own photograph of a 5.25 in disc, with a real handwritten label - then at least no one will find your image elsewhere on the internet. Also, you need to post from somewhere that's not your own computer, so the moderators can't go fishing in the user database for IP addresses. Post it from a friend's, or an internet cafe in another town.
And also a more convincing story than finding something like this in your loft.

No, you don't say...........it was a joke, not a script for an episode of the X-Files.

Every day is April 1st in Dutchlandia!

not unless Foggy tells us who the culprit was.
You might have hit upon something here by mistake - didnt Paul "Lindale" do the graphics for Stonkers for John "Bandersnatch" Gibson?
You big tease, you...
Yes, that seems to be correct.
Paul Lindale on WOS is listed for Stonkers.
Notice the signature on the loading screen:
When it comes to chaos there are no mistakes, only hitherto un-realised order.
I thought it was you but thanks for the vote.
Okay, okay, I'm sorry! Ah well, then I'll better keep those Mire Mare microdrives cartridges under wraps.
Oh wait, I hadn't even posted in here yet. :D
