I do like Justin Lee Collins and i like these shows he does but theyre hardly successful, when he did 'bring back dallas' the only person who turned up was a bloke who was a baby in the original series ! All the original 'a listers' didnt turn up !

Same for Grange Hill, he had a few more this time but most didnt turn up.

Should be interesting to watch though

I'll watch the show where he re-unites the cast of Star Wars ... but only if he's able to get Sir Alec Guinness to participate.

I think he should do bring back Police Academy, now that would be a good lark!

I wonder what Mr. Sweetchuck is up to :D

Me mate phoned up to tell me this programme was on tonight.
Unfortunately, I am moving house 2morow and I gave away my TV!!
Might try to catch it on 4od some time.

Did they track down Mark Hamil?
  • edited September 2008
Most of the other stars kinda said that Mark was jealous of Harrisons career and doesnt talk about star wars much. Marks agent wanted 50k to talk to them and they had a 'whip round' and tried to get money from people in the streets (all in a jokey way) but in the end his agent said no. Shame

Wasn't it obvious from the start he'd only get the Z listers?
The only one of these that was moderately successful was the A Team episode.
I wanna tell you a story 'bout a woman I know...

Yeah it was as most of his havent been successful but i thought he may get one or two though. Its bad they say yes and then dont bother turning up ! That happened in the Dallas one, he had a few yes's but no one came !

Cant believe the droids dont get on !

It wasn't a bad effort, really....

Darth Vader (The body at least....)
    Princess Leia
    R2-D2 & C3PO
    Wicket
    Chewbacca
    Boba Fett
    Lando

...sure, Lando, Chewie & Leia (oh, and C3PO) didn't turn up, but at least he chatted to them and got some gossip...
  • edited September 2008
    Yeah better than past efforts.

I still cant believe that David Prowse was upset that his voice was dubbed, it would have sounded ridiculous with his accent ! Theres a few clips on youtube with Darth Vader with a bristol accent, funny as anything.

Boba Fett was always cool, i always wanted Dengar one of the other bounty hunters to get more of an appearance, he always looked pretty cool

I think the IG88 should've got more time onscreen he's a right vicious bastard, he's the Bounty Hunter Han Solo mentions "Running into at Ord Mandel". But obviously you never see the situation in the movie (you briefly see him when Vader has all the bounty hunters he's hired lined up).

the only way you can get a good idea of the Ord Mandel battle is by playing shadows of the empire on the N64, there you get to fight the IG88 using the seriously bad, and cheesy, Dash Rendar

The characters in Star wars games are probably the worst named characters in the Star Wars universe.

Prime example Masters of Teras Kasi , the Star Wars 3D fighting game has all the usual Star Wars characters selectible Chewy, Vader, Luke, Han and a couple of nobodies. I don't know if it's one of those fighting games that gives you a character depending on who you finish it with or just every time you finish it with a different character.

But the official worst Star Wars Character I've ever seen was a Boba Fett clone with an orange trim on his armour called "Jodo Kast". My best mate loved Star Wars and he was creased up laughing at how crap he is.

Of course there's that extremely shit Star Wars Demolition or whatever it's called, it's just twisted metal with Star Wars characters. Pia and Gia from that game give Jodo Kast a run for his money when it comes to being absolutely shite!

Yep, and that's largely because everyone in the A-Team was a Z-lister apart from Mr T (who he couldn't get to turn up) and George Peppard, who was dead. They also conveniently forgot about Robert Vaughn and Eddie Velez, who were regulars in the final season.

I suppose the shows are basically just a vehicle for Collins to vent some fannish enthusiasm to keep us interested whilst talking to a bunch of people that we'd otherwise probably just walk past in the street without even recognizing. Some of the time it actually works.

was an ok prog but didn't see much point to it.

my money bags lucas pretty much brings it back every decade by rereleasing it. and its sequels and prequels aren't ending anytime soon.
all the characters get together at the conventions anyway. all anthony daniels does is appear at them, and charge 15 quid for his autograph.
there was nothing new that i hadn't heard before, gossip wise.

was suprised to see the clips of the holiday special, i thought lucas didn't allow clips from it to be shown.

The only thing i'm a huge fan of TV/film wise is Star Wars so i did enjoy it. Quite a few funny moments and i'm a fan of JLC so hopefully there'll be more of these

Aye, that's basically it. JLC is the worst kind of overgrown student in those shows and so he annoys me but I think some of the interviews are quite interesting and it can be quite revealing about the personalities involved (the C3PO and R2D2 actors hate each other, the little guy who played the ewok turned out to be a really nice bloke). Ultimately, though, with something like Star Wars he was only ever going to get the minor players; the best he managed was David Proust and the R2D2 guy (Kenny something, I forget his name) who at least played major characters even if we never saw their faces on screen.

I was surprised at the claim that Mark Hamill is bitter about the whole thing. When I've seen him interviewed he always struck me as a very positive person who didn't seem to regret anything and he's gone off to become pretty successful outside of Hollywood doing cartoon voiceovers and being involved in comics and the like.

Wouldnt say that, hes quite 'famous' for not being famous after Star Wars. I like the guy and i'm sad he didnt get huge parts like Harrison Ford did after Star Wars.

Harrison Ford never managed to get a part like Cocknocker in Jay And Silent Bob Strikes Back though, did he?

He has nothing to complain over ... this is a guy who gets 10-15 mill USD per year (or at least used to) just for using his voice.

Another good thing about the show, was that it introduced me to this...a truly bad film, although possibly with more action than the entire new Star Wars trilogy in just the nine minutes shown here!! Excellent....

If you get bored, just skip ahead a bit..

Haha! WTF! I did get bored and I did skip forwards and I have no idea what is supposed to be happening, there's a guy repeatedly bouncing on trampolines, and kung fu fighting monsters that look like sesame street throwbacks. Saw some MK style fatalities too.

The budget and quality of costumes is equal to or maybe worse than "Saul of the Mole People".

Oh, come on! Les Claypool does the intro!!!

If there's one show on AS I really hate then I'd have to go with Squidbillies ... that's just too surreal yet true to live (substitute squids with humans).

That'll be "Turkish Star Wars". Apparently, it was made shortly after a military coup in Turkey when foreign films were banned. It was put-together using pirated material from Star Wars and some other Hollywood blockbusters and original footage shot on a very low budget in Turkey. I tried watching it once but got fed-up after the first half hour or so. Once you get past the initial whatthefuck reaction any enjoyment is quickly dispersed by the fact it's simply a bad film.

Also, despite the title by which it's usually referred, plot-wise it has nothing to do with George Lucas' blockbuster. It's actually an original (and extremely cliched) space opera plot that uses the SW footage for its own purposes (and often in a way that doesn't make any sense - for example the footage is sometimes used behind a pilot to simulate his being in a ship in battle but Lucas's original editing remains meaning that the image suddenly changes without explanation).

can't be much worse than this :D

Basically you can find it on Youtube under geordie Star Wars, but it's proper name is actually Star Wars Japseye. I had the original tape way back in 96/97, from an old pal who knew the fellas who made it. You don't get it on youtube, but there was a load of crap on the end of the tape with a dubbed over film that had Elvis in it, and a dubbed over news program. Pretty funny stuff.

this isn't as funny as I remember it though, maybe because I'm not whacked out of my mind on drugs whilst watching it. It does get funnier than what's here though. As this is only part 1 of 6 (or 7 depending which version you watch).

Following on from my rant about Jodo Kast, earlier on in this thread.

Out of curiosity I typed Jodo Kast into youtube, not only is he a character in Masters of Teras Kasi, but he looks like a fully playable character in one of the Battle Front games.

....and they've actually made a figure of him, so he is now officially a "Real" Star Wars character, and not just some crappy filler character in an average fighting game.

Wonder if he'll ever appear in a movie, or if they'll ever explain why he looks almost exactly the same as Boba Fett?
