No, you don't say...........it was a joke, not a script for an episode of the X-Files.
But if you want to milk it for weeks, rather than for mere minutes, you have to get a bit more creative. You know how suspicious people are around here. (I had a hard time convincing people last night that yes, my IRC client really *is* running on a Speccy, and that's no hoax!)
It was always my intension to come clean after a week if I could keep it running that long but like I said, you guys are too good.
Believe it or not, there was quite a bit of thought that went into the fake with clues added that I knew people would pick up on over time.
I never intended to post as zxspecticle in the thread as I knew there would be an IP match if anyone looked but after the cock-up with the disk image I thought it was worth trying to salvage it.
The forum account was set up with a "Paul Lindale" email address as was the image hosting account. I knew that someone would pick up on the fact that Paul Lindale did the graphics for Stonkers for John Gibson, the programmer working on Bandersnatch. I also added into the WOS account that Paul Lindale was from Liverpool with the obvious connection that Imagine were based in Liverpool. Those that want to tar and feather me, I don't really live in Liverpool ;-)
I knew that the Sage IV development systems used at Imagine used 5.25" disks and I also knew that the Sage IV used a operating system called "PDos" which was written on the disk image as another clue hoping someone would pick up on it.
The word "Cain" was added to the loading screen as people would know Steve Cain was doing all the loading screens at Imagine at that time. There was also talk that Imagine was going to start using the "Creative Technology Group" as a trading name at the time of Bandersnatch so this was added as a further clue.
I'd even drawn a whole host of supporting graphics to drip feed into the forum over time but these were obviously never needed as I was rumbled so quickly.

It would be fun to see them if you would like to post them anyway!
Yes, please post the graphics. Bruce Everiss may come along and demand they be denenciated (san't remember spelling) as they are the real thing or something.

avery aspect of this thread has fullfilled its purpose -
it's probably the most creative one - imagine the logo made in ocean style inspired by ultimate p.t.g. visage...

Oh I think it would have been easily good enough for an episode of the X-Files...

Sorry about that! :)
Some days I'm not logged on to WoS or otherwise busy with not as much time on my hands (like right now) so your timing was a bit unlucky.:D
It was fun for a little while though.
Okay smarty pants: how you do that??

When I saw the first post, I was thinking more along the lines of "eeek", followed by "meh?", with a bit of "ho-hum" thrown in afterwards!!
