Habbo Hotel

edited September 2008 in Chit chat
8 years ago, when net was something sort of new to me (well I only started using the net around...99 or 2000), I remember that I found Habbo hotel, it was during my first job, I had tons of night shifts and spent hours there with friends...

like everything, the enthusiasm faded away, and I stoped going there, some 2 or 3 years ago I went again and found it filled with kids (Well...I was 20, so a 17 year old didn't seem that young, by the time I was 25 or 26 and the kids were 12 or 13 I was starting to look like a sinister creep...

I've just found out my acount is still on...8 years since I first created it (and that's really cool, it's probably the oldest acount working that I have on the internet) I've also found out that habbo is now habbo uk...it's still filled with kids, but mainly from the UK (the old one was more international, specially filled with canadians).

what I really enjoyed about the "old habbo" was how much it "sounded" like internet should be, a place where you would meet and talk about everything with people from all around the world...

of course that in the end was just a bunch of teens talking about sex... and it still is, so after a few minutes, I just got bored and decided to do something else...

Is there any habbo sort of thing for grown ups that isn't just focused on dating, sex chat and trolls? I mean, bessides WOS?

Well, there's Second Life, there are some areas in Second Life that aren't about having sex or trolls. There's also various IRC channels around...

I know i talk on here a lot and it is cool but i cant get into this 'second life'/haribo hotel type thing. Just go outside to the pub and talk to people if you want to talk to strangers. Find it quite worrying (and sad) that so many people get addicted to these sorts of places and can only really talk in there and arent that social in the 'real world'.

This is one of the few places i go to lots though. Just one of my mates TOTALLY got addicted to these online worlds (And also the online Star Wars game) and just never came out as he had to be there at a certain time to talk to people etc. Was just quite scary.

Anyway have to go now, i'm meeting boozefreak on the retro gamer forum at 10 past 11.
