edited October 2008 in Games
Following the previous thread about Ancient Mythology, I am now trying to catalog all games featuring Medieval Legends.

Help is obviously requested finding more games!

Sorry if this sounds pedantic, but wasn't it based on Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose, written in 1980?

    The lords of midnight ?

This is debatable as this game set in a fantasy world and not in a specific real world time period (i.e. medieval) therefore in my opinion should not be included, but its up to Martijn.

    Less tenuous (maybe)examples

    Knights Quest
Saga of Erik the Viking, The
    Viking Quest 1: Holmgard
Viking Quest 2: Heart of Town
    Viking Quest 3
    Viking Raiders
    Vikings
    Vikings
    Vikings, The
    Sir Lancelot
    Lancelot
Quest for the Holy Grail, The
    Black Knight Adventure
    Killer Knight
    Knight Fall
    Knight Fight
    Knight Force

Ahhh! That's the one. I must be thinking of another (very similar) game then because I remember it having old Norse gods in it. I still don't remember the name of the game though ...

Indeed, fantasy is just that, not a legend. :-)

    Killer Knight
    Knight Fall
    Knight Fight
    Knight Force
With the exception of Knight Fall (as that's a clone of Rock 'n' Roll), I added all of the above. Thank you!

Not sure if it's based on a proper legend (haha), but I added it nonetheless.

Ahhh ... actually I wasn't even thinking of it from that proper point of view! I was just thinking of Brian Bloodaxe (viking), knights, the holy grail, the hand of God, Loch Ness monster, Hell and medieval rooms etc ... maybe it shouldn't be counted in then

Maybe it should labeled as "Influenced by Medieval Legneds" ... ;-P

Could you count Knight Lore as it was set in a castle and a couple of the Magic Night games as well.

All of these have been added.

I'm a bit doubtful of having Stormbringer, Finderskeepers and Spellbound in that list. The link with medieval legends is very tenous to say the least!

    Valhalla
    Rasputin (?)

    rasputin was a real chap.

i don't really think you with find a lot of medievel legends that don't have some basis in reality. i'd suggest you roll it in with a medievel theme.

Is there a game based on Bruce Forsyth?

And Rasputin wasn't mediaeval: he died in 1916.

I think we are in danger of changing this category from "games with Medieval Legends" to "games with Medieval Setting". The problem with both mediaeval legend and ancient myth categories is that without doing a bit of research it's easy to add any old bit of fantasy to the list.

Yeah, that's the problem I have with the Arthurian setting, the Legends are Ancient but the setting Medieval. Now we need a new tag for 'games set in the XXX period"

Thanatos -> Dragon, princess, castles, archers... I think it fits.

You should for sure add Artura. It's about king Arthur

Here are some non British mediaval legends:
    Smok Wawelski (Polish legend)

El Cid (based on Spanish legendary hero)

With the exception of El Cid (who was an actual person - our queen descends from him!), all of these have been added.

I know Rasputin was real and died in the early 1900's, however the game is set very much in the medieval period. I listed it because there seem to be other games in this category that are set in the "Medival Setting" as you say. "Medieval theme" might be a better term though?
