Glad to hear fella ! Theyre looking good in a row on my bookshelf. I'm still trying to convince the missus how good it is but nahhh, she cant be converted !

Clockwork orange treatment head in a vice, eyedrops, and an 120 inch projection screen displaying each page for 5 mins. There'll be no way she can't read it, then at the end of the treatment if she compains about the Speccy ever again it'll make her feel sick

Just had a nice email from someone whos bought the previous books, he comes from Slovakia and mentioned this game for the final book...

    Towdie

    http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0005352

Just had a go, plays very very well, great sound as well. If anyone can do a review please let me know

I've had this game sitting around for a while, never really played it, and I have no idea if it's even in English. I think I did give it a quick go a while ago?

I think the last e-mail was an omen, I've got 2 days off work as of now, so I guess I'll try and get you a couple of reviews in, I have no idea how many games I have for book 4 though?

looks really nice, why doesn't the guy who mentioned it review it, or is his English a bit scratchy?

Yeah it looks very good, sound is great, gameplay looks great, very nice graphics etc

I asked him to review it as theres a lot of foreign language in there but he cant because of a 'conflict of interest' ! Hes the programmer you see !

Hes going to try to write up some english instructions for me which i'll paste here, looks to be a very good game though. Very important for Book 6 we get all the very good games (and any average ones) to be in the book, this games a great example as i wouldnt have known about it if the guy hadnt emailed me, looks a very polished game

And yeah do your reviews ;)

Well just for a laugh, put me down for Gazzas Super Soccer, it's a shit game but since I'm from the late Mr. Gascoignes neck of the woods. Maybe I can stick a few "Wi Aye mans", and "Cushdie Bardy Belters" in there

I'll do Stir Crazy starring BoBo as well, that wasn't too bad looking, but it was bloody annoying though.

Since they're not taken yet I'll do Superkid, Vigilante, and Jungle Warrior, since I blitzed it on Myspeccy :D

I'll upload it to lulu tomorrow, dreading what the price will be though, ouch !

I just realised Superkid is "denienced", looks like I will finally have to dig that ropey Speccy 98 disc out, so I can have a recap. I remember the game well, used to love it, but I need to give it a quick go again to give it a fair review. Doesn't matter though, I have a couple of others I wanna do before Superkid.

looks like I missed out by 1 day, it was payday yesterday, and my missus went to Indianapolis for a consultation at her docs. Gave her my wages basically to do the weeks shopping at Trader Joes, cos' they have curry and lots of other interesting things. She spent $125 on stuff there, which means she didn't even get to go to Saraga (sells some brit stuff) and get me my 6 pack of Jamaican kola Champagne, love that stuff, have done since I was a kid.

the rest of my wonga save the $20 I have left in my poke belongs to Mr. Bill

If I'd known I was gonna be that broke I wouldn't have bought the gargantuan box of beer that's in the fridge right now....typical eh :D

$20 to last me 'til next Thursday jeez!

Yep hope it gets to you okay, think overall theyve been alright. I ordered that Miner Willy book and i got a copy with tons of blank pages inside ! Took a scan and showed lulu and they sorted it.

Book 3 should last you a long time, its a big un !

Colour book reminder - please PSJ!
  • edited October 2008
Looking forward to my copy, hint hint..

If you do a few more reviews you can, hint hint ;)

Seriously i'll send you one on. You did 20 reviews, thats a tenner. The books 10.95 plus postage for a few quid more so i'll forward that onto the next book but depending on your amount of reviews you may have to get that one yourself in case the money doesnt cover it

Thanks again (Just ordered it for you)

I'll have some reviews to you by the end of the week. I've made up the list of reviews I need to do for book 4 and I'm going to do the easy ones first.

    Paul

    I'm happy to take on

    Solar Empire
    Speedboat Assassins
    Banger Racer
    The Wombles
    International 3D Tennis

and possibly do a short on Circus Circus (which I assume you know is only a covertape demo that never made it to final version)

When can I order the colour book 3?
  • edited October 2008
Thanks i've put your name down for those Jumping Stack.

Sorry been very busy at the moment, even had to cut down my WOS posting from 1000 a day to 10. I'll get the colour one sorted at lulu in the next day or so, i'm nervous about the price ! At least all the other books will be down in size, i reckon Book 4 should be about 370 pages, Book 5 270 pages if that and Book 6 is the one i really want to be huge but we'll see.

If you want, I can provide demo versions of software I've done post-1993 for 'reviews' or even 'previews' or I can do a small review/write-up on them.
  • edited October 2008
If the demos are a good playable version of a game they could be good, as long as its playable and not just a sit there and watch it type of thing then it could be alright.

Theres a lot of good Eastern european stuff out there so i hope we can capture all of those and get some decent write-ups.

Well, Harry Potter Adventure has all the locations (just over 70) encoded. Frontier of Warriors will have some new locations encoded. Both will have puzzles added.

Well, Book III has landed on my mat - and what a whopper it is too.

The egomaniac in me has just read all the reviews I've written. I might get on to other people's reviews when I have finished reading Book II.
  • edited October 2008
    Yup its one whopper !

I really like this one as i havent tried many of the games, feel sorry for Michael who goes through and double checks every review ! I just do a copy/paste and read them when i get the final book

If anything perhaps its too big but i think with the amount of reviews in there its good as theres a bit of everything.

Fogartylee has locked the bullfighting thread psj so that you can focus on uploading the colour book.

    Ha ha good point !

I've PMed uglifruit as when i uploaded Book 3 originally there were a few minor problems (nothing major) which should have been ironed out. I went to do book 3 the other day but the PDF seemed to have the same issues in which is weird as normally on lulu the PDF is an exact copy of the .doc. I havent used any weird fonts or that so i dont know why things moved about slightly.

I will do this one very soon (hopefully this weekend) as i want to order a colour one as well but because of the price i just need to make sure theres nothing major.

Book 3 should last you a while !

Reviews for Book 4 haves been quiet, might have to do my usual 'Hello, how are you, now do the reviews' type of friendly email again ;)

I don't need one matey, I'm off work tomorrow night, so I'll send you another few. There's another couple of "bonus" reviews I may send you, some omittences from the book that I think maybe belong there. 89-90 were important Speccy years for me, 90 is when my 48k died on me, but I hung on with the Speccy as long as I could so I played quite a lot of games that others may have missed out on.

Plus there's one YS covertape game that isn't on the list, but I'm gonna send you a review for it if I do write some extra curricular ones, so to speak ;)
