help please - Forest of Doom

Hi all,

Im new to this emulator milarky ive got the 30 day trial of spectaculator and took forest of doom of these pages however it dosnt appear to work.

I run it in 48k mode i run the FOD file and it gets to a blue screen where it says Forest of Doom is loading and goes no further.

Has anyone had this working?

    just disable flashloading in Spectaculator

    (tools > options > cassette recorder)

    Hi count_zero99uk, welcome to the forums :)

    You don't mention whether you are loading the TZX or TAP version of Forest Of Doom.
    I've had a quick check of the TZX version with Spectaculator (v7.00.1260) and see exactly what you mean.

    If you disable Spectaculator's 'Fast Loading' (Cassette Recorder / Lightning Bolt icon, or untick Tools --> Options --> Cassette Recorder --> Enable Fast Loading) then the TZX should load OK.

    Oh, and don't forget to either purchase Spectaculator after the 30 days or give ZX Spin a go ... or any of the other emulators in the archive.

    Disabling flash loading worked.

    Not to have this spiraling of topic but which is the best emulator? (i know its an open question)

    This question is usually answered overwhelmingly in favour of Spectaculator and ZXSpin with the rest trailing in second place. (Which means that the first two share first place :grin: They are that good.)

    Spin is free and is my emu of choice. When the budget allows it I will probably buy Spectaculator.
