scart issues

edited October 2008 in Chit chat
my scart cnnection on my TV is blown and i want to connect a scart connection from my xbox 360 to it, is there a cheap way to convert the scart plug to an AV plug or is it called an RF plug? i forget, that one that the mr ariel goes in.

saying that, when i first set the thing up at my gfs house it wouldn't get a signal. i was faffing with those wires, un plugging this plugging that back in. with my gf trying to give advice (dont you just hate that) when i realised the thing was set to HDTV on the plug. i bet they do that on purpose at the factory to annoying smart arses who don't bother reading the manual first.

Need more coffee, thought the thread said 'Scat issues'....so I clicked on it immediately.

I read Scar Tissues which could still be what subject of the thread develops into as it gets more carnal. It's already heading that way.

If you have an old VCR (a video recorder) then you can use that, just plug the SCART lead into the VCR, and connect the VCR to the TV via the RF lead, although of course you'll lose quality partly through it going through the VCR's circuitry, but mainly due to RF being inferior to SCART.

That's what I thought, I read that it was mile's thread and thought "ah, that explains it".

Then I read all this technology stuff instead? Bah humbug :-P
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

its quite good, it have a clear picture, stereo sound, its just the scart issue thats the problem. i can't justify buying a new crt screen. i will prolly wait till i can afford a nice size HDTV. prolly ten years mind, but i will be patient its the yorkshire way.

ive had a look at HD TVs you can get a 19" for 200 nicker. not bad. is it true HD has better definition than real life? suppose id have to buy a blu ray player? so appart form my xbox itd treat other tv signal like normal?

the scart socket ought to have* composite video and sound input pins. so all you need is a scart to composite adapter (a scart plug with the three phono sockets on the back)

*I say ought to have, lots of TVs omit various connections inside the TV from scart sockets to save money, but it's worth a try
