    Copied from here: http://www.sintech-shop.de/home/spectrum-user-club.htm

    ...

we concentrate on our only remaining magazine, which is unique in the whole world because it is the only one to get published in several disk formats and tape:

The Scene+ was first published by the Austrian ASC (Austrian-Spectrum-Club). As ASC and SUC joined together it was then also available to all members of the SUC. Now it is the only remaining magazine we publish because we think the Spectrum-Scene needs such a magazine. The magazine is comletely on disk or tape... There are not so many articles in this magazine, but more new programs. The enclosed instructions for the games, demos and utilities are in German and English. As a regulary special there are always a huge amount of Slide-Shows with Spectrum-pictures included.

Die SCENE+ is distributed in the following formats:

    - TAP-Format for PC by e-Mail

    - Disc (choose if +D/Disciple, Opus or MB02

    - Cassette

    Prices: for one year (6x)

    1) SCENE+ Discmagazin 15,00 Euro

    2) SCENE+ on tape 20,00 Euro

    3) SCENE+ as TAP-File 10,00 Euro

For orders please send message to:

Can someone explain to me WHY Sintech shop has so high postage costs when Germany is famous for cheap postage?

Charging 12 euros for posting a membrane (or anything less than a kilo) within the EU in irrational (specially for Germany).

I still have back issues as +D, and some of them converted to TAP. The issues are only from the era as LCD was the editor of Scene+.

That does seem a bit steep but I've used Sintech before and found them to be fast, friendly and reliable, if a little pricey.
So is RWAP but he doesn't charge that much for p&p....
I find that to be hardly a good excuse for charging that much for postage.

Well, we can explain. We always and only send as an insured parcel. I know that in UK an insured parcel to Germany would cost much more. Of course something like a membrane is not heavy and could be sent as a small parcel, not insured. We did this, but some of these parcels got lost. Many of the items we sell are maybe cheap in the shop, but priceless for our customers because it is the last one for example of a specific game. We don´t want risk that any of the Spectrum stuff (or also other stuff) is lost due to the saving of maybe 3 or 4 Euro for postage.

I guess that most of the collectors who buy from us agree. I think there is nothing to excuse, we use a service with a good price/service ratio and where you can be sure to get your parcel and even fast (48 hours). Small parcel, not insured can take 3 weeks to other countries.

However, for all UK - users we have good news. We have opened already our company in UK selling exactly the same stuff. Delivery times for some specific single items will be maybe longer as they first must get it from main stocks in Germany (which will be in one parcel every week), but many things will be also on stock.

www.sintech-shop.co.uk is not opened yet, still in a testing phase, but in plan is to open the gate in December. Prices will be the same as in German shop, but paypable in UKP and the postage for UK - users will be lower.

So look out, we will announce it here.

    Regards

    Thomas

BTW: We want open in France as well and are seeking for partnership. If somebody from France is interested in an extra income, please contact me.

I would have to dissagree with some of the things you say....

Concerning postage, we're not talking about 3-4 euros more but for almost the double amount. A small packet from UK to Greece costs 4.5 GBP (almost 6 euros) and you charge 12.5 euros.

An uninsured small packet takes 1 week to be delivered within the EU.
I've bought from you once and it took 1 week to get here too so.... here goes your 48 hours.
3 weeks..... no way. I've bought even from the US several times, 1 week again at the most.

I've bought 47 times since now from ebay and not even once a packet got lost, I'm not saying it can't happen, I'm only saying its not that common as you make it look like it is.

I wanted to buy ZX keyboard stickers from Sintech, they cost 4.99 euros but if i have to pay another 12.5 p&p then NOWAY!

The UK has some of the highest postage costs around so what I do is calculate the exact postage cost by weight from either the post office or, for weights above 2Kg one of the parcel companies (normally parcel2go.co.uk) and add a small amount for packing. (I buy boxes of padded envelopes so its a very small amount, if it needs a bigger box then I just use whatever I have around and brown packing paper)

By using a look up chart to calculate the postage it means I can offer all the various different types of service that are available and leave it up to the customer to decide what level of postage they want to pay for.

If you want airmail, signed for and insured you can have it but you will pay for it. If you want uninsured normal surface mail you can have that and save on the postage. Do you really need the item fast or are you happy to wait a couple of extra days and save on the postage?.

As most items have a low intrinsic value it only seems fair to give the customer the choice of how much they want to pay for delivery and if they want to pay extra for insurance.

I have never had a single delivery go astray.

Well, I don?t know why you think that Germany is famous for cheap postage, but I can tell you that Germany is famous for nothing cheap.
An uninsured small parcel to Greece would cost 8 Euro. So we better offer the insured parcel for 12 Euro which is faster and safer. Here in Germany it is law that the sender is responsible that the parcel arrives, if the customer want insured or not insured parcel doesn?t matter. So why take the risk? If the parcel is lost, it will be our problem.

So we send insured, when you open a business you can make it different.

Well, the problem is mainly the international postage. It is why we opened now in UK a shop to avoid that UK people have to order from Germany. It is law here in Germany that the sender is responsible that the items really arrive. The only way how we can get really sure that it will arrive is a insured parcel. So we just do it according our law, which is I think a good law having in mind how many frauds work on Ebay.

I know that we cannot open a shop in every country, but if somebody who reads this is interested to open a Sintech-Shop in his country as well, please contact me.

We are planning to open in France, Spain and Italy (sorry, not in Greece).

    Our shops are already:
    UK: www.sintech-shop.co.uk
    Germany: www.sintech-shop.de
    Czech Republic: www.sintech-shop.cz

Sorry for answering so late. We had heavy business the last months and I had only 4 hours sleep per day and absolutely no time for posting in any forum. However, all our books are of course originals, it would be illegal to sell print outs, or not?

What do you really mean with that? You are going to open a real shop which you can visit in person, or you are going to establish cheaper shipping costs to those countries, or you are going to have a stock of stuff in those countries??
As your shop (I think) is virtual, I don't know what exactly would be to open a shop in Spain.

Cheers and thanks in advance! :)

Well, the shops should be real as people await fast delivery. So you need place for some stocks. But we shouldn?t discuss this here, if you are interested, please contact me by e-mail via the contact-form on www.sintech-shop.de
