hardly loony tunes time. they are just arguing a very well known fact for a laugh to annoy so called clever people.

i like these guys. its like those people who wrote jedi for their religious belief on the census. just a good way to thumb their nose at the establishment.

Our attitude towards those who once upon a time believed in the flatness of the earth is apparent in a new Microsoft advert.
Depicting an olden-days ship sailing on rough seas, presumably heading towards the "edge of the world", the advert is part of a $300m campaign aimed at rescuing the reputation of Windows Vista by comparing its critics to flat-earthers"

Apparently that makes me a "flat earther" then.

I'm seriously considering not bothering to ensure Spud works properly in Vista.
    It's awful.

    No rush then.

TBH, I didn't want to move from Win98, but sitting on (patched up) XP Pro I wouldn't want to go back.

I've got a tiny bit of Mars. Do you want to buy it?

Actually, I've got two bits. One's reddish the other is more yellow in colour.

The red has a significant amount of iron in it, the yellow I presume is sulphur.

Well to be fair, he might like a bit of Mars that's been in Uranus.

FWIW, I actually like vista. After resisting for ages, I finally bought a laptop with vista on it. Now can't understand what all the negativity was about.

A colleague of mine just got a laptop with Vista on it, and it's still slow for him.

It's got 4GB of RAM, and it's not enough for him.

For day-to-day stuff, 1GB is more than enough for me. My rendering beast "only" has 2GB.

How's that proof? You can get rocks anywhere.

Besides the moon is made of cheese, so I don't see where rocks come into it?

Maybe I should get some rocks and sell them on ebay.

yes, but it said it was a moon rock, not just a common earth rock.

    Visa hate hate hate.

I've stuck a Java program in a tight while loop that counts to 1 million then stops.

I've done this on my shiny new dual core laptop running Vista pro (out of the box only Java installed) running off mains.

I've done the same with my 2003 built, XP computer.

Which one do you think finished miles ahead of the other??

That's the kind of power saving stuff I'd rather live without in all honesty - I wish batteries were just better! You know - the other day in work some guy came up to me complaining of a drop in clock speed when running on batteries - odd for a normal office user to notice and complain about something like that.......I don't trust him............and I'm watching him.......

    Nah, that'll be caramel.

Not sure about the red though. Could be a bit of the wrapper I suppose.

If you didn't spend quite so much time smoking moon rocks, your WoS posts might make more sense.

You don't have to, you only have to sail out into open water and you can see the curvature of the Earth's surface with the naked eye.

Perhaps the 'flat disc' is like an upside down plate, that's why it appears to be curved.

How long before we get the "Earth-on-a-giant-turtle Society"?

Anyway when I was on a flight to the US the other month, you see the curve of the Earth from the air. The end.
