Has IT Crowd lost its mojo ?

edited December 2008 in Chit chat
I been watching the new series and it aint as funny as the first two, its similar to Little Britain that was crap from series 3 onwards as well :(.
I have noticed the Oric Atmos in the backround on one of the shelves.

I find the new boss really, really annoying. I know that's supposed to be his character but he just ruins every scene he's in with his OTT-ness. He spoilt every episode he was in in the second series and I've only watched the first of series 3 so far and I was close to turning it off. Chris Morris was a million times better.

So far, I think the new series has been brilliant, arguably better than the first two. And I love Matt Berry.

One man's meat and all that...

I love the IT Crowd, not your traditional comedy series.

I was an IT Manager for 5 years and see myself in Roy (not that way  )

As for the boss Jen, for some reason yet to be decided...I would...

Loved Moss with the gun and the teenagers!

    Classic

I'm loving the new series. Not every comedy show is consistently hilarious, and this one has it's moments too, but I still think it's a great comedy show!

Well Graham Linehan (Father Ted) did direct the pilot episode of Little Britain. Which was shit. But he is great and is brilliant. And his blog is here...

And I post stuff and get stuff posted and thing's too 'cos I am great!

Wow! Just read my initial post and it makes me sound like I don't like The IT Crowd. I love it and think it's been the best comedy on TV since I'm Alan Partridge - it's just the boss that annoys me.

Talking of Alan Partridge, am I correct in saying that Graham Linehan was one of the two Irish TV executives who Alan puts on a show for before he meets his "biggest fan"?

I think the I.T. Crowd is OK, but nothing special - there are much better comedy programs around. But that's just my opinion, and there's nothing so subjective as comedy (apart from maybe music).

Anyway, I think that someday someone will write the definitive comedy program about computer suppport. And it will include a passing nod to the usual problems of the I.T. department, such as printers not working properly, photocopiers not working at all, endless networking problems (both hardware and software), confusion between the different versions of software, the office hottie who has no knowledge or aptitude for anything electrical (or in extreme cases, anything at all) but you don't say anything negative to her as you live in hope of a date, the miserable or two faced boss, bloody job agencies, the canteen that specialises in salmonela*, the "secret" PC, that is actually common knowledge, that contains nothing but porn and warez, and anyone can download and burn anything they like with it. It's periodically formatted, but somehow fills up again with porn and pirate stuff quicker than the hard disc can actually write data...**

    * The canteen of horror only occurs at some places. Some places don't even provide food, whilst the occasional place does do nice food (sadly, a lot more look nice, but aren't).

** Lots of places, but not all, have a PC like this. And I have yet to see one that's password protected.

I like the I.T crowd, but it's a series of funny moments, most of which I like, but each episode isn't really a classic. There are parts of it I like. I'm happy enough to watch it, it's a show I like, but I doubt I'd ever bother with the boxed set.

I have to say the best episode by far is the Theatre episode (Series 2, episode 1). That had me in tears of laughter!

Shame. There are some nice Spectrum-style menus on the first DVD and a bunch of ones based on games from the 16-bit era on the second one.

Anyway, it really was a ludicrous display from Arsenal last night, wasn't it?

Anyone see Screnwipe on BBC four?

They talked to a few writers about stuff, including the guy that writes IT crowd, it was quite good.

I like Big Bang, or whatever it's called. I was watching it on Virgin cable, but it just had it's nightly spazzattack. It often goes tits up at around 1am, which is bloody annoying when I'm watching film 4! Why they can't do their tinkering at about 3am I don't know.

Do you mean The Big Bang Theory? That's a fab show too. :D

I've watched The IT Crowd from the beginning, and it is building. Season 1 had some good moments, season 2 improved on it (and won the International Emmy for Best Comedy) and now season 3 has started strongly. I loved the football talk website and the guy who looked like a magician.

On tonight's evidence, no, definitely not lost its mojo.

Just seen last nights episode. Absolute classic.

    "FUCK OFF!"

Pissed myself with that simple line - followed up quickly with the windows sound moment.

    Pure comedy gold!

    Some great lines tonight

Moss: I'm going to start dressing more provocatively

    Jen: I need to wee-wee

Douglas: Fix my electric sex pants!

That was fantastic. A bit hit and miss in places, but the last ten minutes or so just bowled me over. Great stuff.

In Fridays episode I noticed that on the self behind Moss there were copies of Make a Chip and Scrabble.

There were a few other Speccy games but I couldn't make out what there were.

Last nights episode was the best for ages. The character April was lovely even if she was from Iran*

*You have to watch it to get this reference to Iran ;)
