Rubbish Christmas-themed park forced to close

edited December 2008 in Chit chat
Dunno if anyone else here has been following this story over the last few days. It's managed to be both tragic (all these people spending so much money on this crap they'll never get back) and funny (remember Brian Potter's terrible "theme park" in that epsiode of "Phoenix Nights" - it seems to have been like that only real).

And when the punters got fed up they decided to attack Santa, when he wasn't having a fag outside that is:

Haa haa and here is said rubbish themeparks website:
We have been having severe and very unusual technical problems with our server computer since Monday 1st December ... not with the website itself, but the machine that hosts the website. All effort has/is being made to identify and correct this issue, but it left us completely unable to communicate directly to all our customers and the many interested people who may have wished to view the website and receive clear truthful information.

This rather 'bizarre' machine fault also suspended all online ticket booking and we can only thank you for your understanding and open-mindedness. This 'silent' situation may have understandably created concern for ticket holders and inadvertantly had the effect of allowing negative publicity to run unchecked for several days!

I saw some of the pictures on the news - no wonder people were pissed off.

The winter vista comprised of a badly painted wall at the end of a field. The legion of huskies was one tied up to a kennel. Worst of all was the winterland shopping village. It was a tent with a few boxes of crap in it!

I'd have felt like kicking the crap out of santa and all his little helpers had I paid good money for that!

Yeah, for many that was probably worth the entrance fee alone.

Looked shit though. Like Zargreb said it like was like Brian Potter World from Phoenix nights.

They even rigged up a fake icerink and said it was broken.

all they needed was donkeys with glue on antlers and a peado santa, and it would have been perfect.

If I'd taken my kids there, I'd be knocking Santa out as well

Saw the friend-of-the-family on the Beeb website coming out with the usual sob story - "Oh poor Victors been in hospital". Turns out Victor did 4 years for fraud & is an associate of Kenneth Noye.

Two rays of sunshine in this story:

    1) The management of Alton Towers have put on a free extra day of their Christmas entertainment, especially for anyone who can prove they got ripped-off by this scam (up to 1,500 people).

    2) The scum who organised this scam made the mistake of using a reputable fulfilment company (Swiftsure), who have seized the proceeds, hopefully with the intention of reimbursing them. :)

I suppose Lapland New Forest could have been worse...

Also the snowdome at Tamworth gave away 500 tickets to its Christmas Wonderland

Lapland New Forest, located on the Dorset Hampshire border - which costs ?25 a ticket - promises a magical festive experience - including a winter wonderland full of reindeers and log cabins, a skating rink and a magical tunnel of light.

Makes it sound like you have to pay to merely cross the Dorset-Hampshire border
