Three free +3s

edited December 2008 in Sales
I'm about to throw out three Spectrum +3s. The computers themselves all work, but all the disk drives are faulty. Two of them are boxed, the third is just the computer + power supply. These are available for free to anyone who's prepared to collect them from Weardale in County Durham. I'll hang on to them for a couple of weeks in case anyone is interested in taking one or more of them.

I'd be interested in one if you could be bothered to ship it to Portugal, but i don't think that's the case?

I'd pay for the shipping obviously :-P

I have a pack of three drive bands and an instructions sheet on how to replace them, but could never persuade myself to try it. BTW, only two of them need the drive bands replacing; the third one reads disks OK but won't write to them.

Possibly because someone has replaced the drive belt, but the write protect pin pinged out when they did? You can't win... :-)

    Have you got any left?
I'll pay for shipping to The Netherlands, I'll take all three if you wish.

    Thanks,

Someone contacted me a few days ago and said that they'd call and collect them, but they haven't done so or contacted me again so I guess that they're not going to bother.

I'm not even prepared to mail them within the UK, as I'd have to find somewhere to buy suitably sturdy boxes and packaging to put them in (the original boxes aren't strong enough), parcel them all up and then lug them three miles on the bus to the post office, none of which I feel inclined to do. So I'm afraid that collection or ejection are the only options.

    Hi

What would it take to (?'s) to get these posted to Leceistershire. Name a price to cover the packaging and travelling to the post office. Please!

    Cheers

To preclude any desperate acts on the part of the various people who have replied here or otherwise contacted me, I've decided to hang on to the +3s until I can sort out suitably sturdy packaging for mailing. This will probably take a while. I'll then contact people in some as yet undetermined order to arrange a delivery. I expect that the cost of UK p&p would be in the order of £20 (I have a bus pass so the trip to the PO wouldn't cost me anything).

However, if in the meantime someone offers to collect them and actually turns up then they will be given top priority and will get them for free.

You could use Parcel2Go - http://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=1998&id=37010. They charge less than a tenner to send within the UK via DHL (up to 25Kg) and will collect from your home !!

Please note that I won't be contacting a prospective recipient until January (presuming that no-one collects them first). If no-one either collects for free or pays for delivery p&p by next month then the +3s will be sent to the recycling depot. I'll post a resolution notice whatever the outcome so that no-one's left expectant & wondering.

please don't recycle them, I have a friend that is very much interested..

Well, that's all sorted now. The guy who'd said he'd collect them got in touch again and they've gone to a new home. I'm sorry to have disappointed the other people who were interested, but having them collected from the house at no cost and with no packaging hassle was always going to be the best option for me.

It's all good if they're in good hands
