MicroSoft does it again...

edited December 2008 in Chit chat
I've just heard on BBC News of a fairly substantial security bug on IE7, although I don't know any details.

I'm sooo glad that M$ have the monopoly on the PC market, aren't you?

Regards,

Shaun.

Whats all that signature stuff about, and why did you stop doing stuff for Retro Gamer?

To be fair, all the browsers have security bugs.

This is just one that we happen to know about, which is being actively exploited, and which looks scarier than usual.

The signature was a question posed by Chris Boyo.

And why does it matter that I stopped doing 'stuff' for Retro Gamer?

    Regards,

    Shaun.

Yes, that's all well and good Shaun, but why did you stop doing stuff for Retro-Gamer?

Perhaps a bug in IE7 stopped him getting on-line.

yeahi heard onthe news on the radio today about a "security flaw" in internet explorer, tbh i think it'd be news if they DIDNT find a security flaw in it.

i really don't see why they'd put something like this in one of their programs. bit of one step forward one step back for them.

Actually, the figures now show that less than 70% of users have stuck with IE, with many now using a different browser...

MS are releasing an "out of sequence" patch for this bug tomorrow.

All the IE pron surfers will once again be safe until the next time.

Thanks for the illuminating reply. The word "Boyo" at the end is a massive clue. Sorry for enquiring why you don't write for a magazine I enjoy any more, stupid me and my curiosity. Sounds like a subject you don't want to mention, but do, because it's in your sig. Weird. Now I'm illuminated and confused.

Right that does it, sod the internet and Microsofts blunderbus. From now on I shall be buying things from shops in a high street, get Razzle again from the newsagent (I stopped because he got a girl working in there), buy a newspaper and go down the pub only half as much as I check my email. That should sort me out. :)

There are two reasons writers usually stop writing for magazines:

    1) The magazine fails to pay [enough to pay the rent | on time | at all] (delete as applicable) .
    2) The editor takes a dislike to the writer.

No idea what the case is here but it's between the writer and the magazine and is nobody else's business, even if the writer chooses to allude to it in a sig.

    It's more complicated than that...
