Quick bio
OMG! - so this is what the internet was created for! and all that time i thought it was all about porn! ;) i've finally found somewhere to share my love of all things speccy - i think i've found my home!
as i'm clearly new, here's a quick bio so all you regulars know who/what your dealing with!
started with a rubber key speccy, playing car journey and ballooning until football manager came along. that started a love affair with the footy manager genre that hasn't yet stopped! from the kevin toms classic, through D&H and cult and onwards. great times *sigh* theres far too many great games to list! my mate went and outdid me by getting the 128k, so i got santa to bring me a +2. so then he got a +3 and i had to try one better with a sam coupe (what was other peoples verdict on the sam? i wasn't ever convinced by it)!
favourite thing to do was to break into games and find out how they worked - i'm pretty sure that this accounted for all my BASIC knowledge and very basic BASIC programming skills!
fave 5 games (in no particular order) striker, football manager, on the bench, football director, football director 2 (on the sam)
and thats it! blimey, 9 years or so of speccying crammed into one post! i hope no-one minds me joining your little speccy-party here - i dont understand half any of the technical things you lot talk about - so i apologise in advance if i end up asking dumb questions! lol

and mind you there are no dumb questions.
What is regular for the one can help anotherone's problem. We just want to keep the Spectrumscene alive.
I read you also have a SAM.
Some SAM-related stuff at WWW.MAIL-ARCHIVE/SAM-USERS
Bytes:Chuntey - Spectrum tech blog.

I noticed it too. But it would be found eventually with only my info.
p.s. a wise person ask's questions
I think he meant the boy with a 1000 names. (Unless that is you the infamous TK)
As a side note, I read yesterday that the 'Football Manager' name has been sold to SIGames of 'Championship Manager' fame. 'Football Manager 2005' should be released towards the end of this year. SI lost the rights to the 'Championship Manager' name when their contract with Eidos ended earlier this year. All games by SI will now be sold worldwide by Sega. For more infos - www.sigames.com

nah i only got the 1, but i'm amazed that that there is sum1 thicker than me lol
Well done - now he'll come back.
were here purely to lighten the mood and keep asking wot their fave game of a particular genre is :)
today........side scrolling shooters?
Technical shit such as using methods of drawing graphics to the display memory at a time when the TV raster is known to be at a different location, thus increasing performance by not having to use a back-buffering method and then copying, whilst also preventing screen tearing, which was a clever trick used in games such as...
Zynaps? :)
wasnt transmuter side scrolling? i always loved that........and delta (thalamus)
must admit that i'm getting very excited already about fm2005 - but will you have to type 99 and hit enter?
See youve started with all the technical shit now.....TYPE 99 AND HIT ENTER?? hmmmm
Hewson did some truly great games.
I would follow that with R-type and forgotten worlds.
I also enjoyed Chronos, despite the poor reviews, and Sidewize and Crosswize.
errmm, I thought this was the 'blind date' site. Whats all this talk of computers?
Yep, I hope that it's a bit more addictive than cm4 which I found a little bit too dry and never got into like the versions that came before.
Press 'C' to continue :)
EDIT : By the way, someone was writing a new version of Striker. A thread called 'Striker - Cult Games' or similar. It was supposed to be ready by mid-december but we are still waiting :( There is a taster in the thread though.....

I hope you're not talking about the Speccy version of Delta (Delta Charge) - one of the very worst side scrolling shooters ever and slower than a slug in treacle. Mind you, Transmuter wasn't much faster. :p
I meant to say the friendliest forum on the internet!
The best side scroller, IMO, are Zynaps and R-Type. Fantastic!

must be me...i must be a weirdo ....*gets coat*
MAYHEM IN MONSTERLAND is absolutely fantastic.
Yeah, but on the Speccy... Delta Charge! Bloody hell! I know the Speccy version was just done by some programmer in his bedroom, but that's no excuse. Awful, absolutely awful. (and the fact I got it as a free gift from those bastards at the Home Computer Club hasn't made me any better disposed towards it.) :(
And whatever happened to the load of stuff they were supposed to release? Creatures? Ford Q8 Rally? Search for Sharla? Armalyte? Huh!
In my opinion only FA Cup Football is worse. [Leaves space for comment by sirclive1]
