The ones I've coded, of course ;)

My vote would go for Egghead 5.

    Very tough one !

Love the game Justin, Egghead 5, Bubble Bobble Editor, Bombjack Editor and the Phantomas games. Cannon Bubble is another superb one.

    Cant decide a winner

I think it's been a great year for Speccy games; over 50 new titles ...

I've not played all the new ones but my favourite two would have to be BeTiled! followed by Cannon Bubble.

I'm looking forward to playing Egghead 5 and Justin, not quite got round to them yet.

    my vote goes for
egghead 5 followed by astro 2008

I really do like the Astro game but just wish it had some decent sound or when you jump etc.

Its great CEG are releasing lots of games as well as Cronosoft now

A vintage year. It's a shame that a lot of those games only have one or two votes for them, otherwise the score could be used as a good indicator.

A lot of them I've not been able to play. Of those I have: Justin had some nice ideas and I liked the progressive style of gameplay but I was put-off by the lack of sound and those ridiculous 2D sprites (the largescale acceptance of those here still puzzles me - they look awful). Cannon Bubble is quite a good game with excellent presentation but it is repetitive. I think I'd have to plump for Egghead 5, although it loses some marks for no in-game sound effects (a problem it shares with its direct predecessor) it's still a fun platform game and I really liked the "two game styles" option.

I've played Cannon Bubble right through several times, so I'd have to vote for that. Lots of other great games though; this has easily been the best year for Spectrum software since the end of the commercial era.

Anyway, it's definitely not Deathrider. ;)

Good point about Egghead. The tunes are very very good but i do miss sounds when you jump or collect something.

Farmer Jack and GameX are my two favourites from the last few years but theres been several very good games.

Oi! There's a "Burger" in the pipeline! (oof!)

And, although it will probably not be finished in time, I do have a couple of weeks left to fail!

    Give us a chance!

No. Worst case is 5027. Or 5028. Or 10007778023. Or -1. Whatever! I'll try and do in time for 'now and a bit added on'!

    LOL!

My favourite this year is Cannon Bubble, it's the best technically and it's very fun :D

Really enjoying Wizard of Wor, so that gets my vote

It'd have to be between BeTiled!, Cannon Bubble and Quantum Gardening for me, though I don't want to give too much away because of this thread: http://forum.micromart.co.uk/Topic235211-24-1.aspx

2007 isn't over yet. I expect at least two more Manic Miner/Jet Set Willy games to be gamma-released before the end of the year.

This weeks Micro Mart has the winners of Retro Mart's homebrew awards 2007, and in case you've missed it, here is a brief summary:

Jonathan Cauldwell's Quantum Gardening came third place in the "Best overall game" category; winning this category was Yoomp! for the Atari 8-bit, followed by Joe Gunn for the Commodore 64.

Quantum Gardening also won the "Best game by format" category for Sinclair. Hot on its heels was BeTiled by CEZ Game Studio, and in third place was another Cauldwell game called Blizzard's Rift.

Once again, Quantum Gardening was a winner, beating the opposition in the "Most original game" category. Second place was Green Runner (C64) and Yoomp! came in third.

Winning the "Special Award" category was Andr? Baune's superb 16K ZX81 platformer Yoogor.

Full details in issue 989 of Micro Mart :-P

    Regards,

    Shaun.

Joe Gunn is awesome; I hope we see a speccy version one day soon. I've not played Yoomp!, unfortunately, so I can't comment on that.

Wow! It's a real honour for me those second place in Sinclair category :)

I've never expected that success when I was coding BeTiled!, and I'm really glad of this.

I hope keep the level in my next programs :)

Blimey, that many new Speccy games in 2007?

Some computers didn't have that many games in their lifetime.

I started coding the speccy version late last week with the best wishes of Georg and a pile of C64 asm to show what's happening behind the scenes which so far has gone unused.

I was probably the first person to suggest a speccy version and considering I've been hinting I'd give it ago since before the original was named I thought it would be rude to let this one pass without at least attempting it.

I've never done any z80 asm before because I was too much of a wuss to do it when things where hard first time around but with the whole internet and a cross compiler at my side I thought I'd give it a go.

How has this project gone? Did you finish the game?
