    I'll try ;)
Inhabitant of Belarus (5,7) Black Russian?

Your close. White Russians. Belarussians are the inhabitants. The prefix Bela means White and this people were called White Russians outside the Soviet Union.
    Firework (6)

Maroon. The name also given to a firework used as a warning signal.
    Austrian defeat in 1859 (7)

One of many defeats in fact. Terrible year for Austria :)
It was the Battle of Magenta. I love 19th century European history.
    Computer Hacker (5,3)

What do the numbers stand for? This one is trick because it probably refers to one of the three type of hat hackers. White hat, gray hat and black hat hackers.
Just so, the colour of a "Great" African river (4-5)

Well that's the Nile for sure. There's the White Nile and the Blue Nile tributaries.
    Edward Teach's five o'clock shadow (10)

The true name of Blackbeard, the pirate.

    ...

A little tired. Will continue later if no one else does.

:-) Probably not, I just came up with four letter colours and fitted an anagram into it. I suppose gay men could consider it valuable for their health ;-)

I'm quite impressed at how many people simultaneously got the battle of Magenta; do we have a lot of budding military historians on here or is this some quirk of the Spectrum's colour palette?
