i believe on the trivial pursuit game as phil stated....the first tape is just for the machine in question and loads the game with 1 block of questions....for the rest of the questions you load the second tape (uniload) which loads the questions into all the different puters using the same code

Man, you do have a sense of humor !!!
I really loved your post, and I did actually read it several times before I could understund it and appreciate it to the fullest. But I had to cut it off a little bit before quote it because somebody was almost falling asleep the first time around, therefore repeat the whole message would probably make somebody wish to commit suicide!! :)
I do agree with you on everything, but I have to tell ya, before you take it on me,you should have read my subsequentially posts where I did apologize to Grim and gave him the right solution for his problem, he understood, appreciated my help and we also exchanged a few private messages and became friends !
Now we are both using our universal sense of humor and lol !!
One question though: you say you have an uncle named Armando ? Where are you from and what's your real name ? Maybe I AM YOUR UNCLE!!! :o

Yep. I seem to recall that Trivial Pursuit didn't work properly on +2 Speccys though - they may have released a special +2 only version, but I can't remember for sure. (I guess this was a compatibility problem with the Uniload parts and not the actual main game loader itself.)
Still, a clever idea - it meant that most of the add-on question tapes could be sold to be used with any of the computers (not seperate cassettes for Speccy or C64 etc), meaning they were less likely to produce a surplus of stock for a specific machine (loads of unsold C64 versions, f'instance :p )...
I can't think of any other games that loaded the same bit of code into more than one computer format... anyone?

Referring to code rather than data encoding, I know that the CPC conversion of Head over Heels was just the code from the Spectrum version, with the graphics and keyboard code rewritten. I suspect the same applies to quite a lot of Spectrum to CPC (and vice versa) ports.

yes i know and i saw you did guess the problem he had before i made that post, but i was only trying to make a point. no offense intended it was all premeditated :)

I like to think everyone here can be friends. there is at least one thing we all have in common if we're here. at least i like to believe everyone can be friends and show a degree of respect here and not look down at another as if we are there superior.

well if mel is falling asleep it could be due to her unexplicable and morbid taste for cyborg's posts. she must exhaust herself from searching the forums for them, going way back when possibly even trying to find an even better quote for her signature. little does she know some are anonymous ( Spector can back me on this one cantcha Spector ma' boy!!! ), but whether she's sharp enough to know which anon posts are his remains to be seen. Though the senses must not be sharp enough if i make her fall asleep.

go ahead and fall asleep, mel the bell, if that's the affect my post has and don't fight it. it's just too much for your brain. your brain needs rest to have even a fighting chance with terrible odds at catching the subtleties of my genius that are more potent than caffeine by the umpteenth power, if you have enough intellect to appreciate them.

    BLAAAAAAAAAAH!!!! :p

    Two things:

    1. Mel's a bloke.

    2. I was right you haven't got a sense of humour.

Life is too short to take such off the cuff comments so seriously.

Please give this guy a break everybody! Not everyone is a Spectrum expert, we all started at the beginning at some time and new little about the Spectrum, emulators, tape and disk formats, etc.

I think this thread needs to be killed off ASAP, a couple of innocuous jokes have been made (including one by myself) and have been taken offence by (though strangely not by the person to whom they were directed) certain people. I'm certain almost all the comments made in this thread were lighthearted and not intended to cause offence, but if mine has then I apologise to Armando.

Wow! There I was on the games forum playing verbal chess on a topic and I missed this titantic struggle out on court fourteen! :)

It's great entertainment, no question. My favourite bit was Sadako's quoting of Einstein. That's a bloody good line, and so true. I'll need to store that one away for my next argument. :D

Spector wasn't sharp enough - I covered that conclusively when he insisted an anonymous post was mine when it couldn't have been. IP logs would confirm it as well.

I fail to quite see why you think I would need to post anonymously to make a comment people wouldn't like or that I would post anonymously for that purpose. (FYI I haven't posted as anything other than cyborg since I stopped having to go to an internet cafe to use the internet.)
