The first buzzword of 2009

"Staycation" - spending your holidays this year at home.

Being the trendsetter that I am, I already booked two weeks off for next month a couple of months ago. I intend to sleep rather a lot: get a huge Tesco delivery in Thursday evening, go to bed Friday evening, and maybe (just maybe) get out of bed by the following Thursday.

Yeah, it's not like you've got anything important to do

    *cough* Christmas video *cough*

I'm surprised you managed to find the energy to make this post ;-)

Heh - I'm pretty sure I'll resume working on it by the second week. Life is pretty much work, eating and sleeping right now though - in particular sleeping.

Never mind - ten more work days until the time off... not that I'm counting... much...

I blame that advert a few years ago where they mixed two words of the language into one.

    This years should be "Intshit"

On the TV this morning they were on about "FakeAways" i.e. making your own meal that is similar to a takeaway.

Though I seem to recall that being known as cooking.:-)

Just about any takeaway meal you can get tasting as good as a restaurant/takeaway with a bit of practice. All it takes is patience and practice.

The only thing I've never been able to perfect is a Chicken Bhuna - I can get it close but not quite that perfect taste. Chinese, (most) Indian, Italian, British/American, etc: I've had recipes off friends from all over the world that rival or beat anything you would get out of a restaurant or take away in Britain.

    Me to.

It's just another indication that Humans are sheep, like band waggon jumpers with a real lack of originality.

Staycation.... Its only the middle classes that could come up with such a concept. The poor lower classes (if you beleive in a class system, pesonally I just beleive in the poor) have holidayed at home for years, the dole scroinging scum, get a job!!!.

Whats that then? Well you get some noodles boil them in a pan of hot water untill soft. You drain of the water with a colider then stick in 2 kilo's of molten lard. That should do it. :D

Nah. It was some american tosser that came up with 'staycation'... I heard an NPR (National Public Radio) story by one of their reporters who was planning on doing it a couple of months before Christmas. I wanted to reach through the radio and tear his head off! Made me wince every time he said it.

(Why, yes, I AM a recovering grammar nazi. How did you guess?)

With Resident Evil 5 out in March, it's highly likely that I'll be a Staycation this year.

Another new buzzword, from the USA: breastaurant.

    isn't that illegal?

i can understand why you wouldn't want to employ a minger to be a stripper, but to serve food thats discrimination. i mean you can't say you can have the job cos you are flat chested even if you are an excellent waitress.

and who are these sad men who go there, go to a strip bar or a brothel if you want that sort of thing. prolly the same men who are too frightened to buy a proper wank mag, and buy FHM instead.
