    Hey, don't diss merzbow.
They even dedicated an album to minazo (the walrus holding buckets).

On a serious note, they're way better than most noise bands around.

I thought it was just noise but on closer examination it slow loads Daley Thompson's Decathlon for the +2.

I used to listen to a lot of Aphex Twin, Ken Ishi, Speedy J etc. so I'm wide open to synths getting abused but my god that's awful

I must be getting old because that was just turd!

I thought at points I heard some kind of tune forming, but then it went away, and started making fart like noises.

You've got the basic idea of noise, congratulations!
What I really like about that genre is the fact, that 1 single song can be totally different from person to person.

Also ... one of my very favorite Artists who combines many genres including noise is venetian snares, whom I recommend here.

What a load of crap ! My music taste really varies but that was just ridiculous.

Sounded to me at the beginning it was the crowd cheering at Hyper Sports !

Did try clicking on Shockwavs link for 'Venetian Snares', hmmm ! Think it said it all when one of the comments for their video was 'really rad' ! Think i'm too old for that kind of music ! I dont like music when its something i might be able to make up ! I want it to sound professional etc, not something i could do if i was on ectasy on my Casio keyboard.

In what way? How does that distinguish the 'noise' genre from other genres?

I agree with that, these 'noise' bands seem ridiculous, just someone pretending to be 'different' and cool by liking this 'music'.

i know, i like a couple of verses and a catchy chorus. and yet i am considered not cool by asking for this.

as the song goes 'it's hip to be square'

    I could do much better.

It's not my kind of music but with some of the software and other stuff I have hear I could do much better than that.

If I dragged a microphone behind my car while I drove down the main road, connecting the ouput to an reverb machine and a chorus unit it would sound better than that.

I look a little time to look at the other videos, it aint good it it?

Well, with noise you get either totally random annoying crap or can distinguish one of many possible songs, as you put together a rythm/melody/pattern in your head (which might be altering depending on your mood, when it's done right). As with most other genres it's either your taste or not.

oh yeah i saw that in the paper this morning its well funny, im glad shes gone i never liked her on the one show. apparently adrian childs had a go at her for it. i bet he pushed for her to go off the show, as it wasn't on air, so it could have been swept under the carpet.

But that clip was just crap though ? It seems its the case that you like that band so if they released 'humpty dumpty' you would rave on about the qualities of it and the different approach and general waffley shite some music experts give !

If that song wasnt done by that group and i said 'my 3 year old has just made this up on the organ' you wouldnt be saying how great it is. My opinions not right most of the time but here it is ! That music was shiteeeeeeeee !

I went ot a Jackson Pollocks exhibition once. It was utter, utter crap, he conned everyone! :lol

Making a music track like that is very easy to do. I've done a couple like that in my time mainly to annoy people or because I was feeling pissed off with music in general. There is no art to it, it has very little merit and I'm sure cool people will latch onto it. But you can't make a career out of it. I'm 46 now and I still like to think I'm into extreme music, underground, non-commercial etc. but stuff like that is disposable. Good for a laugh but its usually the people making it that are doing the laughing. Still, no harm done eh?

Ok Folk's leta have a go!!

Lets see how easy is it to make some random noise. What you can do? post up your own compositions and lets see if we can be more artfull. Not much of a challenge is it.

I'll be interested to hear peoples compositions, i mean there could be some classic pieces of work as in the 'noise' music world, plus i dont think the critics are that tough....
