Dollhouse

Good news for fans of Joss Whedon. His new series will be starting this Friday in America. Rest assured I will be hitting the torrent sites the very next day. :D

    Really?!

I've yet to see anything written by him that was less than brilliant! I'm looking forward to this one too. Especially with Amy Acker on board!

Indeedy, he's done some great stuff, Buffy, Angel and the utterly fabulous Firefly!

Everything he said, where was the good in any of that, cheesy bollocks about vanquishing demons? What is it with the word vanquished? All the baddies look like big stupid 80's B-movie monsters, rubber as anything, and what was the deal with that demon that was part man part machine and about 60% rubber? Crap, crap, crap, sorry but it's crap.

..and before you tell me I'm clueless no, my best friends sis' was obsessed with all things Buffy, Angel and Whedon in general.

I think Joss Whedon's made enough money from his cheesy TV crap to impress 15 year old goth girl crap the world over.

Give us a break and let the TV spot be freed up for some documentorys or something worthwhile, instead of plastic goth wannabe and emo shite.

Actually no I'd rather see a double bill of Banzai than Buffy and Angel back to back, what a waste of airtime.

Not a great Whedon fan but Firefly and Serenity are well worth a look.

LOL guess you're not a fan then. Still it takes all sorts :)

The question is - What thing do you have with the word 'Vanquished' - cos I don't remember it cropping up much in Whedons work to date.

Aside from that you have pretty much described why I enjoyed Buffy so much - because it Knew that it was sub B-movie bollocks and riffed on it with well written and witty scripts. (And a great cast)

I liked Angel even better - and I still don't know why...

Firefly I missed on TV - I actually saw Serenity first and bought the DVD of firefly after. Again ... these epidodes are written much better than they needed to be - and I liked the way the action was framed often intentionally badly so you had to really crane your head to see the special effects. (A trick later used in that hndheld monster movie that I can't remember the name of...)

I like documentaries too by the way - but since no one seems to be able to make any worth seeing I'd rather see Joss Whedons latest work.

I mean even Attenboroughs work is 'dumbed down' to the point that it is just coffee table environmental science with pretty pictures these days, unless you like to turn over to Ch4 and watch those 'Mitchell and Webb' style freak shows - Like the boy who has a bottom for a face...

And yet you mention nothing about Firefly/Serenity, which I consider the best stuff he's done.

    You not seen that then?

Small views of both insignificant TV that made way for crap movies that nobody knew what was going on if they hadn't watched the flops leading up to them.

Worthless like the rest of whedons crap.

    Utter bollocks.

Fair play, I'm a Whedon fan myself but Adam was rubbish.

Fair enough... dm_boozefreek just not your thing.

I guess I won't try and convince you that Life on Mars or Heroes are works of genius either! I really like the genre-pieces like these and Whedon's work.

If there was somebody on here trying to convince us all how great the latest BBC costume drama was I would sound exactly the same as you!

Nothing get's me started on a rant like a load of silly women in corsets deciding which bloke is wearing the tightest trousers... (And if the BBC commision one more series of Lark Rise to Candleford I may do some vanquishing of my own)

Fortunately I missed out on those being in the states, but no doubtt they'll poison BBC America sometime in the future, the brit channels you pay for here are more of a slap in the face than paying for the TV license back home.

I can't stand period drama, but Americans seem to love them, so they're onto a winner apparently

EDIT: Never seen Life on Mars, but unfortunately I thought Heroes was bollocks as well, I guess there's just no pleasing some people eh? :p

I shall be watching Dollhouse when it hits the BT network. However my first response on hearing about the series premise was:

    Joe 90.

    Showing my age.

Bloody Hell! What have I started? :D

Personally, I think Whedon is a genius. Everything he's created so far has been 100% brilliant, with Firefly/Serenity being the very best of all of them. 8)

you would have liked it (LOM) me-thinks. far much better that buffy stuff, in fact they shouldn't even be mention in the same sentance. :)

buffy fights gay looking vampires, the guy in life on mars beats up nonces, nuff said.

heroes just got stupid when they all became related to each other.

never been a fan of buffy, i might have a sly wank over that willow chick, but it was more a show for young teens, like Dr Who.

Must admit i heard all the hype about Firefly and people raving about it, downloaded it and watched about the first 3 before giving up. Thought it was very dull ! Yeah we all have different tastes but after hearing so many positive comments i was very surprised by it.

You should stick with it, there are some utter classics in there, and the film rounds it off nicely!

For the turgid nonsense that was Buffy & Angel he should be banned from any with pen & paper or word processors

For he did with Alien alien he needs to be banned frrm having any contact contact with the human race

I tried to get around to watching Firefly & Serenity as some people I have respect for are complementry, but I'm afraid his previous work prevented me from making the effort.

Sounds like you're talking about Charmed, which has nothing to do with Joss Whedon. That's a chick-show about witches that uses 'vanquished' all the time - I only know because my missus used to watch it, honest.

I think you may be right now that I think about it, I maybe got them mixed up cos' the same girl that used to subject me and my mates to Buffy and Angel used to watch that shite as well (my best mate really couldn't get away from it, it was his sister who's house we were at ).

Episode 2 was fantastic and a real improvement over the first (which I also enjoyed of course). :)
