Pain Relief

edited February 2009 in Chit chat
Tramadol and Doclofenac don't cut the mustard any more. I've been promoted to Fentanyl patches. I'm about to put one on and I might get a good, pain free nights sleep.

Wish me luck!

I'd rather wish you a good night's sleep than good luck ... unless you are wishing for "good luck" while in bed ;-)

And perhaps you are unable to perform 100% anyways... errr ... anywho ... I guess I do really wish you good luck!

Ah what you need for a goodnights sleep round my house is Mycoxaflopin also known as >10 pints of beer.

Co-codamol is good if you double up the dose (do not do this).

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Co-codamol

    Also try Ketamine.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketamin

This is used to tranquise horses and made me bounce around a night club once whilst looking at myself from the ceiling.

I was on 2 x Co-codamol 30mg + 1000mg paracaetamol + 50mg diclofenac for a while, but it didn't cut the mustard, so I moved onto Tramadol 100mg + the paracaetamola dn diclofenac. Now I've added the Fentalyn to the mix. I can't wait for this hip replacement as my doctor is running out of pain killing drugs to feed me!

Yeah sounds good, but I'd be up all night pissing. Besides booze and these new patches don't mix.

I slept very well, I only woke up once. Hurrah! Best nights sleep for several weeks. As these patches take 24 hours to come up to full effect I may get an uninterrupted nights sleep tongiht. Lets hope :-D

Me and my best mate used to sink a mixture of soluble co-codamol quite often usually we'd do 2 wait an while and do another 2. My friends dad had numerous health problems at one time so had a load of them surplus, my friend got a cyst on one of his lungs that ruptured, so he had a load of them.

So we'd do 4 of them, and these were the good ones as well 20mg of codiene I think, unfortunately with that much codiene comes about 1000mg of paracetamol. Couple that with the pisswater snakebite, and quid a shot vodka me and my mates used to drink when we went out back then and I bet my liver is still screaming out for help now :D

4 soluble co-codamol was kinda like doing 1 DF, but I wouldn't have been willing to neck 8 to get the effect of 2 DFs.

Reading that back to myself actually reminds me how much of a scumbag I could actually be when I was younger

I find pethadine (prescribed when I had kidney stones) does the trick.
You feel the pain but you don't care about it.

Sounds like alchohol, but with the convenience of not having to drink loads :D

A rubber mallet, applied gently yet sternly to the forehead, seems to do the trick for me ... took me a few tries and several bumps to get the hang of it, now I'm nearly addicted. And I got used to the headaches quickly, and my memory is getting better. Also, I got used to the headaches quickly.

This is a hell of a pain killing drug. I slept well - but I did wake up a few times. I feel more refreshed. I can see why it's controlled.

    what's wrong with you?

I've got anklhyosing spondilitis and also am finding diclofenac hardly has any effect any more.

I had avascular necrosis in my left hip. This was fixed by surgery last year. Due to lack of blood supply the hip is now riddled with arthritis. It?s very painful, and is now at the point where lying down in bed hurts and is causing mayhem with my sleep, hence the new patches, which so far have been very very effective. My head feels a bit foggy and yesterday I felt a bit sick but that seems to have gone. These patches are a short term solution, I?m going to have a total hip replacement at some point.

jeez man best of luck with that!

Arthirits is horrible. It is agony to millions of people but doesn't seem to get the attention of other issues because it's not directly life threatening.

I'm really sorry to hear about the trouble mate. I hope the replacement comes quickly, and sorts you out.

It's a real fault of the human body that you can't will pain away. Pain is supposed to inform you of trouble, but once you know about it, the pain should ideally be suppressable or ignorable. Maybe one day...

    Anyway, all the best mate.

I was prescribed another drug (can't remember it's name) to take with Diclofenac, as I was told that having a long course in it can cause stomach ulcers.
