realise that being bored with life is a natural, beautiful state to be in. Don't let that drive for dynamicism in your life take over and want something better. Cos then if you do get something better you'll not be happy cos you want something better still. Bask in the satisfaction of being comfortable

My Partner is an Occupational Therapist but I can't see how she could help in such a situaton. Not unless you need a raised toilet seat or stair rails installed!!!!

I just find new stuff to do. With the internet, it's easy to find new stuff to do, whatever your inclinations. For instance, I started learning Spanish last year, and I get better at it every day. I don't think I've been bored since I left school.

maybe try and get into something creative. learn an instrument, do a painting maybe? join a line-dancing club (erm.). sounds like you'll be pretty busy soon with a baby on the way!

PRICELESS!!! Nearly wet myself reading that!

Seriously though, back on thread, I'd have a chat with one of your more serious mates or consult a support group like the Samaritans, who are always willing to talk through such issues. I think it's probably a natural time of life when most of your day-to-day aspirations have been met (decent job, nice car, family, home to live in) and you realise that some of the more esoteric aspirations aren't going to happen (be an astronaut/porn stud/cure cancer, find a gold plated speccy, fit a raised toilet seat, etc), hence a feeling of general malaise and "is that it now?" setting in.

It's trite to say "We all go through it" but I did too, and many others here will have too. A previous post said to enjoy what you do have, and there's a salutory lesson in there for us all I think...

Hope it all works out - we have a helpline at work for employees and their family to discuss personal matters that worry them, and as the definition of family could be seen to include friends I can send you the number by PM if you're interested?

Don't worry. It might be temporary. You've said you have a baby on the way. It means you won't have time to think about anything when he/she is born! I know that because I have two children

Sometimes it's only the feeling when you are about to get into a new chapter in your life... in a few time you won't remember this... sure!

Damn right! I'm still convinnced I'm going to do something better, and I've been having a midlife crisis since I was about 24, and it's still about another 10 years til I'm officially middle aged. But maybe my midlife crisis came about early because I was convinced somewhere in my head that I wouldn't live past 25. But here I am 30 alive and bored shitless (but still glad to be alive), no wonder I drink so much :D

i am bored all the time. my and the gf decided to open our own pesto stall at a market, but making the stuff is very tiring, and quite expensive. So this weeked we are going to start writting some letters to celebs and see if they reply.

you might just be going through a funk rubberkeys, the sun will come out soon and you will feel better.

Happens all the time to me (unfortunitely), some of it seems to trace back to a couple of mushroom incidents.

    However,
People say that I'm at my best when my back is against the wall (metaphorically speaking) and having to fight my way through whatever particular disaster has befallen the household (this time around)

I also find myself more content when we (my family) are pretty skint.

Why, err I think it's becasue every day we get through feels like a victory and theres no time to go "Ohhh I'd like to be able to ........"

Ofcourse I wouldn't say no to winning the Euro millions lottery then we could so some of the things we want to do rather than have to do.

Wise words!:-) In fact, don't be surprised if there will be moments when you wish you had time to be bored again!

Sorry to echo what some folks have already said but soon you are gonna be praying for a boring bit of life where you can do whatever you want, or even bugger all.

Make the most of it now. As soon as little rubberkeys is born your life as you knew it is *gone*, and it ain't *ever* coming back. Bill Murray said that in Lost in Translation and there has never been a truer word said on film.

Are you actually being serious? If so where the hell do you get all the pine nuts from I know you said it was expensive to make but those things cost a fortune here, and there's pinetrees everywhere. Then there's the olive oil, sure enough you can buy cheapo crappy stuff which still costs more than I would pay for it. But I've seen half-litre bottles here that cost $47.99, and balsamic vinegar that costs $39.99.

So it's all bound to cost more in the good ol' Engy-Land! If I remember rightly all that poncey food stuff cost an arm and a leg about 4 years ago.

I think the only thing cheap is the Basil, and that's still a bloody rip-off

Hope it works out though if you're not taking the piss, Hoity Toities, and students love to buy things like fresh pesto. Makes them feel all avant garde, and new age, stupid fuckers :D

Well I suppose they have to have something to waste daddies money on

You could have fun with my left hip, I currently use 4 different types of painkillers so I can function. Lets swap hips. That would keep you occupied. I'm normally in bed between 7 and 9 each night and am asleep shortly after I get in it. Soon I will be taking a couple of months off as I should be getting a hip replacement. Oh what joy.

I crave boredom....nothing better than sitting with nothing to do.....doesn't happen much. Don't wish it away if you have it!

yeah it cost a bomb, the one nuts were about 3 quid, and would make 4 jars, the oil was a fiver a bottle, 70cl i think. cheaper than voddy. we grow our own basil so that cut the cost. prolly wont make it again though. defo not worth the cost when you can buy a processed jar for 2 pound fifty.

things are pretty cheap in yorkshire though.

I'm sorry to hear you're "bored with life" ... :-(

It happens ... to all of us ... just you wait until you have the baby in your arms ... You're in for a bigger adventure than Mr. Pesto (with full respect to his entrepreneurialism).

Chin up, tea to the brim, etc, etc. It's all good and I'm pretty sure you're bound to have nothing but interesting and entertaining times ahead.
