You can vote out the govt - Google answer to nobody.

They ought to at least blur out the buildings so that weaknesses in security are obscured.

We really ought to shake off this idea that shiny new things can only be good things.

    But.... but... but... it's SHINY!

    It HAS to be good.

I'll just send him a copy of MS Vista, same difference.

Haha. I actually quite like Vista... It's got an unfair reputation, but my new laptop came with it... As soon as I switched the menu to be more XP-like, I got to like it...
I hear that Windows 7 is really good, but I haven't tried it yet.

I've seen it in action and it is less flashy than XP but seems to run alot quicker.

I think its a stripped down and steemlined version of vista. I think that MS realised they were loosing out to linux on the small computers like the EE-PC which had trouble running Vista.

The thing is once people try Linux many realise realise that actually its quite easy and nice, wondering why was they were bothering with MS for all that time. I think this is an MS attempt at plugging a hole in a sinking ship.

Surprisingly the Swiss are very liberal about such matters.

I know - I'm not entirely happy with high-definition photos of the outside of my grandmother's house being available to any would-be burglar who wants it. At least before if they wanted to case the joint they'd run the risk of being seen and noticed.

Well, if any burglar wants to jump over my fence based on what's on Google he'll probably skewer himself 'cos the photo of my place is years out of date and there's stuff there that would do a serious injury. With the pratt laws that we've got that would probably be my fault and the bastard would be allowed to sue me! So to prevent that I'd have to finish him off and dump the body - and it's all bloody Googles fault!

It seems just majot cities are on it at the moment. Are they planning on having the whole of the UK at street level at some point? At least Motherwell isn't on it yet. Mind you, you're not missing much believe me. It's full of windswept streets and drunken neds (chavs). Very bleak.

Google have done all this to make money by selling post codes /zip codes to marketing firms.

    For example...

A company selling gardening equipment can pay Google to give them the post codes of houses in a certain area that have gardens - making mail shots more economical. No point producing millions of spam mail shots about garden equipment and mailing them to high rise flats and houses without gardens.

When those cars go around taking 320 degree photos - they are also grading/rating the area.

Lots of expensive cars parked in your street?

Hehe...I had to listen to a Motherwell ned tell his life story to some poor lass sat at the back of the bus in Edinburgh last week...He was telling her all about what he'd been up to, and getting into trouble with the police, etc. like it was supposed to impress her (it didn't!)..

Oddly though, Musselburgh near Edinburgh IS on street level, and I can't quite work out why, as there's not much there either apart from neds and charity shops..(oh..and a Doll Museum...which is freaky...)

My old place back in England is an upstairs terraced flat, so it wouldn't bother me too much as the car couldn't have got a good look through my permanently blinded window anyway. But I can see why people who live in nice houses would be edgey about there widescreen TV and massive entertainment system visable from the window at ground level possibly making it onto google.

If I lived at ground level I'd be narked about it, the only thing to do would be if you see the car bally up and jump around infront of the cameras waving your arms around a lot, so they don't get any decent footage. If you think it's too much for a one man job, get a few friends to help as well, and run circles round the car jumping and waving your arms around.

Just remember not to make contact with the actual car that way you haven't physically done anything (apart from looking like an idiot). Don't shout either that way you will not be charged with rioting (applies to 3 people or more). :D
