Nik Kershaw - Still Performing.

edited April 2009 in Chit chat
I went and saw Nik Kershaw in Cardiff last night. I must say it was a brilliant gig. That man can't half sing, as good live as he is in the studio, you can't say that about many of the pop acts about today.

I got his autograph (signed an album for me, his latest), had a chat with him and even managed to get hold of the set list whilst being faced by a stampeed of devoted fans.

Blooming marvelous. I could not reccomend his new material enough, its abosutely brilliant. His lyrics are quite deep and thoughtfull and with a very sharp and sarcastic wit.

Hasn't he changed:

He did an acoustic set, and it sounded great.

I always used to get laughed at for defending him in the 80s, even though I didn't like his hits.

Very good guitarist as I remember (anything memory based for me places everything in doubt)

A very good guitarist. He is able to play rhythm and melody at the sane time (without the use of a loop machine).

He used a digital loop though, at the end he used it to play both the beat (slapping the guitar), rhythm guitar, bass. Then play the melody over the top and whilst singing Stevie Wonders "I Wish". Whilst being able to record new loops n with other chords to make a fully featured song. All with an acoustic too.

Nice of Nik to entertain you with his Groucho Marx impression.

If I remember properly he was a jazz player before becoming a popstar.

    EDIT:

I see in the background (on a flyer) that Foy Vance is playing, he's pretty good performer (though a bit mild for me) and a damn good songwriter
