@Old Speccer - I'm sure I'm not the only one still really looking forward to the full version you were writing and you thought you'd be ready for the middle of December...?
Well, pal, the hols are over and we're getting impatient!! ;)
Seriously, any news?
During January I got a new computer and swapped my hard drive over to it. Something went wrong somewhere and I was unable to get it working. The hard drive hasn't worked since. I lost months of coding!
I did manage to find an earlier version of my Striker remake I had saved to disk, but I never found the motivation to carry on after losing so much code (any coder who has had this happen to them will know how gutting it feels).
The good news is I've started coding it again and is coming along nicely. I'm not going to put a date on when it will be finished this time, but I am 100% sure that it will see the light of day before I die. :D
Football games I'm currently playing are Football Director 2 (so hard!), Multi Player Soccer Manager and On the Bench. All Cult games!
FD2 is definitely hard - what tactics do you use? I generally try not to put the bonus pay up too high at first to save money. I also analyse the squad at the start, put all players 30+ age on the transfer list and don't sell them without a free transfer of a young player. Then I get a good scout, coach and physio (can take a few turns as you can't ensure a good one). The Youth team is essential for long term success - I never sign 18yr olds as they don't get good enough before they disappear! I cover GK D M and A with 17 yr olds and get D, M and A 16yr olds.
Then it's a case of hoping to get by in the first season, using Extra training only as a last resort. If a player gets to skill 5 or 6 I consider selling them to buy 2 players of skill 3 or 4. If you can get a free transfer here it helps and you have to keep your scout(s) on the lookout so you can replace the player immediately.
Contracts really annoy me so it's the only part of the game I will use the .sna trick for. Otherwise I just find I am much better now, tactically than when I used to play on a real speccy! I'd be really interested to swap tips!
My remake is coming along nicely and now has Domestic Cups, European Cup and International Matches implemented!
So - any tactics for FD2? I have posted an FD2 tactics guide in a related topic - it would be great to get more tips and tactics (not cheats) from other people and to produce a full guide!

Ah, yes, silly me :p
Wait until you're at the MAIN MENU with the spinning ball before entering the pokes. What a donkey :)
