Does anyone post on W.O.S from a messier room than mine?

edited June 2009 in Chit chat
We refer to it as "The Study". But it's that room in the house we don't really know what to do with, and never get around to tidying up, or decorating, and just chuck all the junk in.

That's nothing, you should see my eldest boy's bedroom! He don't post on WoS though, Spectrums are gay to him.

Respect *_+ Now that`s cool, I love the fact you got your chair on top of stuff :)

Mines much worse, I at times have a whole corner of room near window as a rubish bin, this has been known to approach half my height. It`s really awful trying to get to the window when someones knocking and you`ve just woke up hungover.

... Wasn`t it you who used to post pics of your games room, and it was all neat and organised and stuff?

edit... I just noticed that it`s your study/spare room, I was actually reffering to my bedroom, or as my friends call it... the tip :D

Best I can do is this one from about 6 months ago: http://obo.homeip.net/messy.jpg

I blame most of it on assembling a test machine, but I have to admit it's not usually spotless!

I hope you don't smoke while you post on WOS, you could become the human torch.

Buy some shelves. My room used to look a bit like that, and they changed my life.

    I do!

too much hassle sorting net curtains out, so I taped some bubble wrap over the window.

Here in Minnemasotadontchaknow it can get to -35C during the worst cold-spells (which can last a few weeks (sometimes months) so plastic-wrap of any sorts (preferably see-through ;-) ) taped around and over the window works as a wonderful insulation, and keeps your arse from freesing to the chair.

(yes ... we also do have heat-registers but when it's that shi**y arse cold outside you get a constant blow of cold breezes from the windows.)

BTW ... is that a bed in there? Or at least a mattress ;-)

PS just stuff all that junk into the closet, close the closet-door and forget about the whole ordeal.

i post from a messy desk, but my junk isnt allowed to encroach from its confines lest i incure the wrath of the health and safety dude.

My old rented flat was a complete dump, although I'm not generally messy. As it was rented, I couldnt give a flying fook about how messy it was.

Since I've just bought a new house, my room is unhealthily neat and tidy. I hope I can keep it up, as I normally keep it nice for a few weeks and then it starts to look like that garbage disposal room on the death star..

Bubble wrap curtains - it's the details that make the difference

    remember this room?

    Picture037.jpg

we emptied it out, and got a builder/plasterer in to fix it up, it wasn't cheap though. :(
all 4 walls and the ceiling needed plastering amongst other things.

Pictures don't really show the rooms dimensions well, wall is 7ft high on one side, and about 15 ft high on the other, but only about 10 ft across.

anyway, here it is, from junk room, to second lounge. Keeping it minimalist, sofa, telly, freeview, xbox 360.

Finally! It's been ages since I last saw a window that doesn't have a screen of some sort on it to ward off Ye Outside Bugs ... and the old-fashioned metal lever with the holes in it to set how far open you want the window ... or is it the "newfangled ones" (i.e. post 1950's) with the elbow?

Ummm...so what do you do for a study now?!

EDIT: Thats a strangely low window....
  • edited May 2009
it's not so much a strangely low window, as a stupidly high wall

My bedroom is an absolute tip, due to the fact that it's a tiny room, crammed full of furniture and boxes of stuff (junk)

On the other hand, over Easter I built myself a workshop space in my old play-room. That is super tidy with everything laid out on dedicated benches and if anyone goes in there and moves a resistor I get shirty :p

I can work in either mess or tidy. I can't work if other people are allowed to interfere, move anything, or tidy things up.

Yup! Nothing worse than people trying to tidt things up for you, my mother slapped me about once when I was a kid, because her and my gran (apparently) spent all day tidying my room while I was at school. and within' an hour of me being home I'd put everything back where it was.

It took years but my mother finally realised I'm the type of person who will tidy or rearrange things when it suits me and I'm good n' bloody ready to do so!

Now I just have to convince my wife that my general clutter is for my conveience not for her go moving around. I've lost my new bankcard cos' she tidied my stuff off the desk up, but she quite happily left the old one sitting on the desk. It's still here and it's almost 9 months out of date? I'll never understand bloody wimmin' :D

I work at home in a basement, the wife hates the room as its totally a 'boys' room with my old computer mags, sport mags and arcade machine etc.

Cant stand it if i'm away and she tidys up, everythings in the wrong place, it might look tidier but i havent a clue where most things are
  • edited May 2009
i hate my gf tidying up my stuff too. i say to her 'you wouldn't like it if i did the washing up and the ironing!'

she says she would, but i think shes just being awkward.

I post from my PC in my living room, but my whole flat is clean and tidy. Just finished dusting despite having a hangover.
