There have been plenty rumors about Perfect Dark coming soon for XBLA... well... we can confirm that Perfect Dark is indeed on it's way to XBLA. This is not a rumor, it's coming! Not just that, there is a very large announcement coming from Rare soon (ahem in line with E3). We last heard that it wasn't known if they would go ahead and make this announcement but as time progressed, it looks as though it's all systems go. Expect a major surprise from Rare this June. "
Which is fantastic news for any fan of first person shooters - trouble is, the news might be "fantastic" in the old fashioned sense too ("fantastic" used to mean "too amazing to be true", nowadays the word is used to mean "wonderful"), as Rare Extreme (who are not afiliated in any way with Rare, and so aren't privy to Rare's secrets) has since removed the post and commented:
"We recently posted a news article which we would like to reiterate is based only on a rumor and is in no way confirmed as an official announcement. "
I don't know if this refers to the above announcement about Perfect Dark, but since they have removed said announcement, it does seem likely. But since Rare have released Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie, then why not Perfect Dark? Alright, so Goldeneye is partly tied to MGM (who own the James Bond/Goldeneye rights), but Perfect Dark is Rare's own intellectual property, and releasing the best ever FPS onto the 360 would be brilliant for 360 owners. Rare must surely be aware how much people want this game, especially since there's so much talk following this announcement, to say nothing of the constant mentions this game gets on XBox 360 boards when it comes to "What do you want to see on the 360?" topics.
And just imagine, PD multiplayer on Live! - it would be amazing. They'd have to sharpen the graphics up, of course, as many modern gamers wouldn't be pleased by such relatively low resolution graphics, and if they added more multiplayer levels to the sixteen already present then that would be even better.
We shall see...

Apparently, they've also got something called 'Project Bean' in the works for XBLA, which is rumoured (only rumoured, mind) to be Goldeneye but with all the Bond references removed. Would be fantastic if that's true, but not sure how they'd manage it. To be honest, part of the appeal of the original game was the fact that you were Bond....
If they get the multiplayer enabled on LIVE then this will be awesome!!!

"In the booth [At the E3 show, now on]. Just saw Perfect Dark on XBLA running 1080p. It is coming to XBLA this winter. Free theme coming tomorrow!"
i will download it once its out, and i will give you all a run for your money on it.
hopefully they will have all the same content in there like the options for bots. maybe they could pull thier figer out and sort the face mapping thing too, surely you could do that online and link it to your account. in fact why hasn't this been done yet on the consoles? (or has it, and im not looking properly)

Cos' it was massively overhyped on the N64, and nowhere near as good everyone makes it out to be.
Sorry, but that's the shizzle ;)
The multiplayer was ace if you could get 3 mates round though! It was just as good as Goldeneye, and the Farsight and Laptop made for an interesting take on things...
And the bots are still the best AI deathmatch opponents I've ever played against...
Not "shizzle", but definatley a shorter word beginning with "shi" ;)
PD is the best FPS ever, not just on the N64.
And why are you still wasting time posting (and an anti-PD post is the very definition of time wasting) when you should be working on Miles' Mad Mission?
Those screens are very dissapointing, being mostly empty and uneventful, and look almost like PD running in hi-res on an emulator. Still, maybe it's early days yet, look how good the XBLA version of Goldeneye looked before it was abandoned.
Still, PD doesn't have to rely on graphics at all, so we can't lose either way!
And with the same multiplayer modes as the original. How did they manage to mess up the XBox version so badly?
