Tsk, is that all you've got for sale? C'mon, you can do better than that - I've been spoilt by another Wossers recent listings, and I'm thirsty for more! :)

When you would have a true Sinclair heart you would TZX it for WoS and then sell it on Ebay.

oh my. thing is, I don't think people are actually that interested in bidding on auctions that reflect a seller's expectations of a sale.

Take for example, all the backuptrading MIAs myself and Murtceps won. They all sold for £14.99 each, and wouldn't have sold at all if we hadn't bid.

Then again, they weren't Sinclair/McMillan titles. It's possible this will sell for £100+...but I don't have that sort of cash! :-o

I quite agree. If I had something valuable like that, my first thought would be preservation, not making a quick buck.

excuse me, Gilby is on the preservation team. it is unthinkable he didn't TZX it before putting it on ebay!

And why does it have to be sold as "MIA on WOS" then?
If we aren't discussing this some of might buy it for WOS-purposes when Gilby would have TZX-ed it already!

I feel sure that he made .tzx of it already and that it will appear at WOS with next update.

But now it is isn't present at WOS, so it is MIA and describtion is correct.

Placing MIA in auction title just suggests that it is a very rare title that during 12 years of WOS running nobody had in his hands, so it is valuable for collectors. Just a bit of advertising;)

Hmmm. I disagree. Even if it's not technically dishonest, at best it is misleading.
    I still don't approve.

What get's me is why these McMillan Tapes are so rare, most of the MIA are from the early days, or back bedroom programmers, and come in photocopied inlays, but these are professionally produced and must have been produced in fairly large numbers.

    They were very poor sellers.

this thread just makes me realise how few people who use these forums know the people who actually do something concrete for the scene

I was just thinking exactly the same thing. We owe a lot to the work of the preservation team.

I agree too. Preservation team people put a lot of time and money into getting these old MIA titles for WOS and the rest of community should be grateful.

The only problem that emerged here is that some people here don't know their names so they can try to win for WOS a "MIA" title that isn't a real MIA, because it was already preserved by someone and will come to WOS with next update.

There are few of us, we should know each other.

The problem is , people are too quick to accuse someone of something they dont know about or understand , whether its on here or elsewhere , its way to easy to be critical.

    Good luck with the auction.

Just for the benefit of the doubters, I do have a true Sinclair heart ;)

Thanks for the good words Paul!!!

I both know and understand that advertising a title on eBay as "MIA on WOS" when it has already been TZXed and will be included in the next update is deliberately misleading. It's this that I was objecting to, and as others have pointed out it could lead to good-hearted people bidding un-necessarily for the purposes of preserving the title, so they will end up wasting their money.

I am fully in agreement that the preservation team do a fantastic job, and we should all be very grateful.

It's not listed on eBay as MIA. Steve listed it *here* as "currently MIA". In other words, 'heads up folks, this is actually rare' as opposed to 'L@@K R@RE!!'

Actually it is listed as "MIA on WOS" in the eBay item title (unless it's been swiftly edited ;-)

    Anyway, I don't know what I'm moaning for - I don't want the thing anyway :D

Well Trellis, if it'll make you happier, I'll not include the .tzx file in the next update...

So now I can guarantee that the buyer won't feel cheated...

    There, that was easy!

Hmmm, I saw this one a little bit too late. As soon as I saw 'MIA on eBay' my first thought was "I gotta get it so I can make a TZX!", but when I saw it was Gilby I figured it was already preserved, and only being placed on eBay for those of us who really want to collect it.

Good luck with the auction Gilby. I hope it helps you recover part of what you've spent trying to get other MIAs.

    The wonderful world of collecting.

Something that was so shit in 1985 that no one wanted to buy it, gave the bare minimum of pleasure and was generally miconceived, and was then unloved by the few children who had it foisted on them, is now given a higher value than things from the same era that are actually good.

And just for the benefit of the forum readers, the tape doesn't belong to me... I'm selling the tape on eBay on behalf of the owner.

To be honest though, whether a .tzx of Bodyswop is on WoS or not, it doesn't change how rare the tape is and collectors will know that already...

I hope it will come to WOS nevertheless ;) That must be really bad if it is so rare. I'm going to torture myself a bit with playing it.

I was the winner of this item.
I'm a long-time lurker on these forums, however from now on I hope to post a bit and hopefully make some useful contributions to the community.
This tape will definitely be stored safely!!
