Vanilla coke was good, but I really liked Tab Clear. Don't know what happened to that.

Aye that stuff vanished around about the same time as Mountain Dew and Lucky Charms. The brit spin on Mountain Dew was better than the "proper" American version you get here, but I can satisfy my cravings for Lucky Charms here :D

They sell Tab here but it isn't clear, I've asked my wife about it, and she's never heard of it, and neither has anyone else here who I've asked about it? Tab cola being an american thing I figured if it was available in clear over here in the US somebody must've heard of it? But apparently not?

I must be the only person who was alive in the 80's who didn't like that stuff? I thought it tasted like if you poured it on a car it would have the same effect as a gallon of turps.

where's the ay chip... made krusty40 look like a fucking amature.

i'd like to know what happened to all these people who used to post on WOS and got booted off.

    Never heard of quatro before.

I remember Tab turned up in the mid 70s (in a pink can) and it was truly horrible, then there was a re-release for tab clear which I liked a lot (I liked the clear plastic 'cans' even more though) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tab_Clear

I always thought that TaB was the US version of diet coke.

"Aspartame contains METHANOL, a serious metabolic poison. Your body converts it to formaldehyde (embalming fluid) and formic acid (ant sting poison) both of which attack your central nervous system and every organ of your body."

    Quick q's :
    1. Aspartame contains METHANOL
    2. If 1. is true, how much Aspartame does one need to ingest for the latter half of the quote above to come true?
  • edited June 2009
I dont care if it contains Aspartame/Methonal. I've got my trust in the people making the drinks etc, if it was some super evil stuff it would be on the front cover of every paper and drinks with it in would be banned.

Instead some geeks on the net are making a mountain out of a molehill.

Sure if they looked closely at manyyyyy microwave meals or additives they'll find stuff which isnt good for you in large quantities.

I know eating Maccy-D's every day isnt good for me, drinking isnt good for me every day etc. In moderation it all seems fine

Do you eat takeaways, chinese or indian ?

I'm not really into organic food, sure companies have been adding stuff to food for years and i'm not too worried about that.

I do find it amusing when people lecture me on what i eat and theyre quite happy to smoke or drink alcohol or dont do much exercise !

<rolls eyes> Even worse, diet drinks contain DHMO, dihydrogen monoxide. Many people die each year to overexposure to this dangerous chemical. It's also horribly corrosive, it can cause many steel alloys to corrode literally overnight. I suggest you avoid DHMO like the plague, as hundreds of Americans die every year from a surfeit of DHMO. It is also found in pollution from chemical factories and nuclear power stations.

Aspartame does not contain methanol. Methanol is just something comes out while it is metabolized. But a glass of fruit juice results in about four times as much methanol as a can of diet pop.

How much, of either fruit juice or diet pop, does one need to ingest to poison the central nervous system/organs with methanol/formaldehyde/formic acid/DHMO?

How many apples does one need to eat to get cyanide poisoning?

And along those lines, yet not quite:

Look up "LD50" via Google. Everything has an LD50 level - it's the quantity of whatever substance you have to ingest before you have a 50% chance of killing yourself. Even water has an LD50 value.

Does anyone remember One Cal? A soft drink in a can that, I assume, had only one calorie per can. But you could also get it in 2 litre bottles. Was the stuff in the bottles watered down?

Does anyone remember a soft drink that appeared in the early or mid 90's called 'Liptonice' (im sure that spelling is wrong). It was an iced tea flavoured soft drink, it was actually quite nice but seems to have vanished.

The Lemon one was quite nice, but the bird shit clogged up the ring pull mechanism.

They sell the lipton cold brew bags here so you can make buckets of it at a time.

Horrible stuff I thunk, my best mate liked it though.

Definitely still around on the continent, at least. Whenever I'm in a supermarket or a cafe in Europe I always see it in the fridge and go "Ooh, Liptonice! Haven't had one of those in years". Then next time, I see another one in the fridge and go "Ooh, Liptonice! Haven't had one of those in years".

(oh yes, and they also have Nestea, which sounds like something someone's just made up, like Cadbury's Whole Fruit bars.)

Really like the Lipton Lemon or Nestea with lots of ice when on holiday. You can buy big bottles of Lipton Lemon in some UK supermarkets, but it doesn't feel right. There's an awful peach variant too.

There was 2 versions of liptonice one was fizzy and the other was still. I did find the still version back in 2003 in a Co-op shop one day. I tried it and it was horrible. I poured it down the sink. The fizzy one was definately better.
I've just realised i'm drunk, take no notice of me (it's the southern comfort talking again!)
