Totally worth it?

edited July 2009 in Games
All,

I'm a big fan of the Total War series of games. I'm very sad and I have every single version so far, apart from the new "Empire" release.

Now I'm looking at purchasing Empire:Total War - Special Forces. It's pricey for a PC game at ?49.99, so...

Has anyone played this or the original Empire:Total War game?

Good/bad points?

Worth buying?

Anything I should look out for with it?

Cheers,

Whenever has a Total War game been converted for the Spectrum? :???: I believe you should post your question again in the chit chat section, this one is only for Spectrum games. (Anyway, TW games have always been brilliant stuff, so this one should be no exception in my opinion.)

i haven't heard of the special forces version, how would that work?

not played empire either, although i would love to have it.

only really played that shogun on and medieval total war, great games.

NB - the games section is usually for speccy games, or games relating to the speccy, so don't be afraid if the mods move it into the chit chat section. :-D

You're absolutely correct! I saw the "General games-related topics" under the games thread and saw no mention of it being specifically Speccy games.

After I posted the thread, I saw "Non Spectrum-related threads" under Chit-Chat (Or "chin waggage" as I like to call it).

My complete balls up...please accept my most humble apologies.

But yeah, TW on the Speccy  - not without some serious upgrading!!

Well "Empire" is just the next in line of the series. Set more in colonial times.

Special Forces comes with a special Steam log in (no relation!). When you activate it, you get the ability to download 6 units unique to "Special Forces". You also get it all in a lovely box with extras and stuff...

yeah i know its the next one in the series, im not f'ing retarded. :-D

i played one ages ago called imperial glory, proper musket and canon battles, was pretty good, like a low rent version of the total war games.

ah so the special forces is a add on pack then (you should have said.) bit confussing becuase they didn't really have special forces in those days. and for 50 quid they better be special, and not special in the way rainman was.

No, Special Forces isn't an add-on, so that does make you retarded .

No seriously, it's a re-packaged version of "Empire" but with extras...costs twice as much too!!

I had, well still have, Imperial Glory. Loved it to fookin' bits! I say had because I still have the DVD but it somehow got cracked and now won't work...so I still have it, but can't play it.

this is what happens when you let people from lancashire on the internet. :-D

ah i see, i can see the price increase then, expensive for a PC game though.

yeah imerial glory was good, shame you had limited army sizes though, you eneded up sending a few units to battle when in reality you'd send the whole army across the land.

i still have my disc, are they easy to copy?* i could burn you one off and send it to you.

i know how to burn DVDs, just wondered if it had protection.
