Only if you're surfing the Widewebz...

    Serious answer:
By now I only visit two sites and neither of them warrant the security measures you mention.

The other computer I use has to have security as it seems the connection is being barraged with junk from the outside world and the IP doesn't seem to be bothered about it and don't want to fix it. As it's not my "problem" I'm not escalating it further.

I think he was after a serious answer...

I use AVG for anti-virus, spybot for spyware & ccleaner for the rest.

windows firewall & your built in (if you have one) router firewall are good enough.

Of course, it all depends on which sites you visit, and what you download....

I use Spybot, it's good for catching anything that's slipped through I suppose.

I used to use Lavasofts ad-aware, although that could be a little too sensitive as to what it picked up, plus it no longer seems to update? Everytime I try to it just says failed to connect. So I may just remove it altogether?

So despite the billions of sites on the net you visit 'just two' ??!

As said above Spybot and CCleaner are the ones i use, Ad-Aware doesnt seem to pick up as much stuff as it used to (?) so I dont bother with that so more.

Dont get me wrong i have the usual favourites i go to but i do like having a search and often finding some other sites which i love.

But surely everyone has other hobbies !? I might search for a film to get some info on imdb.com or empireonline.com, browse amazon for the latest books/dvds i might want, search a few other film-fan sites, check gp32x.com to see if the Pandora is ever arriving. Few youtube videos to watch, check some of the news of my favourite bands. As i like the premiership and NFL i check a lot of sport sites.

Often found some new books/dvds which i didnt know were released from other sites and order those. Download a few online comics (i mean graphic novels !) to look at, check for some new US shows to see when theyre out, use rapidshare to get various things etc !

Shame on you for just two sites ! ;)

Go Commando I say and live life to the full...

...well, I'd say that but never actually do it!

I use Lavasofts Ad-Aware which is pretty good. For AV I use Norton 360 because it came with 3, 2 year licences which cover all the PC's in my house. I also don't suffer with the consumption of resources that other people complain about and YES - it is switched on before some smartarse asks!!

Boozefreek - Ad-Aware lets me upgrade. Only a couple of weeks back it let me upgrade to the Anniversary edition. The one thing I have noticed is that it used to upgrade automatically, but now I have to click the upgrade button on the opening screen for it to do it???

i used to use spybot and avg..............mot anymore, even when i pointed out a problem to them they couldnt find it.

avast and malwarebytes here now, they saved my skin

using NO security in this day and age is the most stupid thing you could ever do, even if you dont frequent "those" sites, they are not just on "those" sites anymore
