The new Arcade version and the Elite version are generally considered to be reliable since they use a different manufacturing process than the older models. With the Pro being phased out these 2 are your current choices anyway! IAC, don't let the failure rate hold you back - MS has a 3 year cover on the RROD - so a replacement (generally done within 3 days if not on the same day) is just a call away.

The new "Jasper" motherboards use less current and run at a much lower temperature. As the main cause of RRoD is boards fracturing under prolonged heat stresses, this problem *should* be resolved.

My Jasper Xbox 360 runs at a cool temperature, when you put your hand behind it, it's barely luke warm, unlike previous models where it can get very hot.

Plus Jaspers run much quieter too. When you play games off the HD, the noise is barely noticeable, certainly not distracting. I've had mine since March and play on average 1-2 hours a day, and no problems (yet).
