RecordNow! is eating my Harddrive :(

edited September 2009 in Chit chat
I had 3 gigs on my machine and I tried to burn a DVD with RecordNow. It failed, my drive locked up and I had to re-boot. When I looked into my harddrive, the 3 gig had been swallowed. I made another 3 gigs, and tried to burn a smaller disc (I should have 6gig free now) It froze again, and now I'm let with just 300 meg. Where's my hard-drive space going? I emptied out temp files, and re-booted, but it's not made any difference. What in blue-blazes is this bloomin computer doing to me this week?! Grrrrrrrr!

Have you checked to see if there are any hidden files eating up the space on your hard drive?

Something similar happed to me once when I was using Nero. My PC failed during writting to the CD, but I'd already made the image (it was a direct cd copy). When I restarted my PC, I found that Nero hadplaced the disc image in such a place that it appeared on the My Computer screen, just under the hard drive (c:) from there it was a simple double click and I was ready to burn the cd again and when i'd finished, I chose not to keep the file and it was gone. I know this is a different program, but it may be worth checking ther to see if that's what it's done.

Or, why not look at starting another DVD, but looking at the programs options/directories to see if that sheds some light on where it's put the images that you have already made?

Hmm, maybe. It's just finding the wretched things.

I went to open previous projects, but there's no projects in there. Also looked in hidden files as suggested, but no sign of it. Oh lordy, this aint fun.

Edit: Only 129megs left, not 300. Guess I'm gonna have to put important files onto memory sticks and re-format harddrive again.

    Try looking under:

    C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Sonic\RecordNow!

Assuming you are on XP. It'll be something like c:\users\%username%\appdata\ocal\sonic\recordnow! if you are on Vista/7

Be glad you never had to clean out a Time Machine volume on Mac OS X. You don't even have access rights to get rid of those files from the default admin account.
