Commando with Music

edited September 2009 in Games
Years back I downloaded the hacked version of commando that had a rendition of the 64 sid tune in it. It's a .z80 snapshot but has anyone actually got it to work on a real machine?

I know it's a denied title but thankfully i do own the original so I feel exonerated:p

I've only tried it with my +3, gonna try it with a 128+ or +2 to see what happens

Before the game was declared denied to distribute I downloaded from the WoS archive the .TAP file of this hacked version. Works well under emulation - any 128K model.
Of course I did not, and won't, distribute it ;)

Hmmm as i type is that a 64 in the background, well no it's commando with 128k sound

    broke area 1
    now rush area 2

hey boozy looks like I'm in for another hand hurting session!!!

had to hang the mp3 player off the tv to get it to load, ah the old tape loading leads moving the tape deck around or twiddling with the leads to get it to pick up - those were the days

If this game had been released originally with music, the game would have gained a lot. I wish Ocean had released it! (a Robocop type music in-game would be fantastic)

    Cheers

that's the one, only you can't multiface it cause when you do the bloody thing crashes. I want to put it on my +3 under the telly cause that ones got the scart lead and best picture.

If you want to hear the music in slightly more authentic quality than youtube, it's by Frantisek Fuka aka Fuxoft and is downloadable from zxdemo.org in fxm format which is playable on AY_Emul. It's probably in one of his demos and/or one of the Song In Lines demos, and I think it's on Project AY too.

However, my favourite AY cover of that track is in Quinquagesima by The Lords...

Yeah shame they didnt release it with music. The original game was just excellent, very good engine used for the game but yeah when i discovered the 128k version with the tune i've loved it even more
