TBH, Lenny is ok. He's got a natural comedic talent and given the right material can be very good. His 80's shows after Three Of A Kind became 'must watch' TV due to a couple of his characters but I guess eventually the writing got weaker and the show became painful to watch. I have been impressed by some of the drama's he's done lately. I assume he doesn't write his own material and I reckon you can chart the highs and lows of his career by the script-writing teams he uses.

He's playing Othello at the moment isn't he? (Note to self: should read the rest of the thread before posting).

I remember Lenny Henry in the 80's when he did that show about a radio station. It was funny at the time. I don't think it's been repeated since though.

That would be The Lenny Henry Show, which does throw you as you expect it to be a sketch show and it turned out to be a sitcom.

Later "Lenny Henry Shows" were sketch based so it was a mindscrew!

Okaaay. I'm out of this thread, before you all start talking about your other comic heroes, such as the great Bobby Davro, the king of comedy innovation Gary Wilmot, and the legendary Dave Gorman.

As for the Wiki-fiddlers - they can go f*ck themselves now they've deleted Derek Brewster for 'not being famous enough'. Cliquey wankers.

Yet, they have Johnothan Thompson in there, for anyone into the retro arcade scene, this man is the skurge of it.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Thompson

Who is this person? How is ANY of this Wikipedia worthy?

Basically this man had a very very short lived TV career, and now spends his days ripping off unwitting arcade collectors, and people who don't know much better and will pay a few grand for somthing worth about ?100. Once he even floged empty shells as working machines, and burnt a lot of collectors who never got their money back.

Hee hee, his website is a funny read, I don't think I have ever read such a self endorsing pile of overblown cack.

He's good these days - I still have his GoogleWhack Adventure on Sky+ which I play through every now and then because I find it so damned funny.

Just to give my tuppence worth....

Don't have a problem with Wiki sites, but I do have a problem with the stupid people who believe everything on them is "actual fact"...As mentioned already, you can find out a lot of stuff but sometimes you need to verify it. The fact that anyone can add to it means there's a lot of guff in amongst the good stuff!

And Lenny Henry has always been alright but nothing special....best work was definitely Tiswas! And I miss him, Jonathan Ross & Griff Rhys Jones doing 3 hours worth of stuff on Comic Relief....which I find to be utter monkey poop these days!!

Oh yes, that is top comedy viewing. Along with the two TV series he did (the final experiment on the astrological series was comedy gold!).
