Q. on Firefox. (define this error, please)

What is it called when Firefox does not completely clear private data? I.e. it still leaves a bunch of sites in the history.

Or is this perhaps not an error? I notice that all the sites it still retains have stars next to them.

In the bar at the top?....that is your bookmark list not sites visited I believe and so wont be cleared unless you delete it from bookmarks.

    Errr .... "bookmark list" ?

Errrrrrr ... I only have one input thingie (aside from that annoying, space-wasting Go-Oogle-yerself-bar) and it's where I plop in URLs to go visit sites ...

Yeah your URL bar....it has the dropdown clicky down arrow at the end of it.......your some of your bookmarks are displayed......Is that what you are talking about not clearing out?...they wont clear out as they are on your bookmarks....I think...

Maybe we have crossed wires...always better than crossed swords I suppose.

Ok, assuming it's that (I think you've got it right) can I make it so that bookmarks do NOT show up in the URL bar?

    EDIT:
What I want to accomplish, barring cleaning out the history, is to have a clean URL bar after I've clicked "Clear Private Data."

Hmm I don't see anywhere to clear it...interesting.... has to be a way.

In relation to this, on Ff, how the hell do you set the history delete thing?

You know like on IE you can set how long it remembers things in the options, you can say "keep for n days". does Ff have this capability?

Also, the amount of drive space allocated to history files...can this be set too?

    Tools/Options/Privacy/Location Bar:
When using the location bar, suggest: "History"

Tools/Options/Privacy: "Remember my browsing history for at least N days"

[not sure what "at least" means there though!]

I don't see 'Location bar' under privacy.

There's a box at the bottom of that tab. "Location Bar" is its title.

If you're on FF 3.0 then maybe try these tips:
