"Wingman" demo

edited October 2009 in Development
Hi,

Just a quick post to inform you of a demo of my new game "Wingman" currently under development:

http://www.ipear.co.uk/peargames/wing01.zip

The game will be a simple collect-em-up/arcade type game, but the "engine" is being developed for a bigger project I am working on with "Graz".

The demo is 128k only as I use the Screen/Memory Page technique.

Thanks

Very nice! Just a little thing though, are the two character blocks directly above the jetpack on the sprite gonna be fixed to see the background on release? Or is it an unfortunate side-effect of the game engine?

Currently I am doing a straight copy to the display, though I may mask the player depending on speed etc to ensure graphics behind remain.

Is this what became of that engine demo that was posted up ages ago with the cartoon cat in it?

If it is you've done quite a bit to it, looks really nice, and if it isn't then you've really done quite a bit anyway, and it still looks really nice.

I hate Rob's games cos they look and play so well, I get extremely jealous that my coding skills are no way near Robs standard.

If not then, maybe alter the sprite to fill those two spaces - perhaps make the rocket pack larger or something.

    lush

good choice of colour for the parralax (parallax? how's it bloody spelt?) gives you detail but lets the sprite and foreground really stand out.

    good character colour scroll too

Will you be posting the source when it's done?

    Nice use of colour.

Good engine as well. Although the movement is character based, it is quite smooth.

Waiting to see the final version.

it looks nice and good. everything is so big, you can put much more detail there.
(don't think I did miss the light effect on character, bright always stays at the same side. That gives me an idea right now, it's character based scrolling, so you can easily change bright squares to adjust lighting, thus direct player to go to light, thus helping it to go to the next quest/object to collect. It's like a light-compass..

whatever, enough of my ideas, happy coding.

Very nice, and in-keeping with the bright & bold style of BipBoi.
Yep, Rob certainly has a signature style.
