Linux + GUI on 112Mb machine?
I've got an old Compaq laptop sat gathering dust at the moment, and so though I might use it as a linux machine of some sort. Ubuntu looked good, but requires 256Mb to install, and the laptop only has 112Mb (128 - 16 for shared graphics).
Does anybody have any suggestions for a distribution I might be able to install? I'd like something like Ubuntu as it looks simple enough to install and had a nice interface - the easy to install bit is very much required!

For a really small Linux Desktop OS that might run smoothly with your system, Id also recommend Tinycore Linux:

tinycore_2.4.iso can be found at:

Its about 11MB... Methinks your not going to get much smaller than that for a working Linux Desktop...
But of course, if what your wanting isn't necessarily for the purposes of further expansion, you could go with something more exotic...
Try googling MenuetOS and its variations...
EG:

Its a desktop Os written in pure assembly, that fits the size of a floppy disk.... Can easily be dumped on your harddrive and pointed at using GRUB as your bootloader for a superfast booting OS...
Oh sorry, not Linux. :)
Lots of great games though and they'll fly...
Well, it might be worth getting an old 3dFX card then it'll fly.
Be great for Quake and Doom.
I'll hopefully try some of the others tomorrow.
