Don't most old farts who liked clubbing gravitate to line dancing eventually? ;-) Still sociable, but not full of young 'uns and too loud/crap music!
I'm totally with psj and mrcheese on clubs. They were always a place to just carry on drinking and/or pulling after the 11 o'clock chucking out. I think I was sober in a club once (a date I had to drive to meet). Never again, it was bloody awful.
There used to be a good nightclub back in Newcastle, but it closed back in 97 or 98, called the Village, but we actually had to tell a taxi driver if we got a taxi there that we wanted to go to NE1, which was a shitty little charva pit next door. Basically because the clubs full name was The HOPE Village, but there was a gaybar on the other side of town just called The Village, on more than 1 occasion we had to stop the taxi driver on the way there and say "Woah matey! Not THAT Village"
Anyway there was a window in there that you could look through into NE1, they put a curtain over it, but if you lifted it up you could see in there. Occasionally we used to lift it up and give the Fred Perry jumper Posse the V's. Then laugh as all these little shaven headed velociraptors came up to the glass, swearing their heads off at us. I can't lip read but I could see they were definitely calling us hippies. Basically since everyone with any sense of induviduality, and who doesn't wear a Kappa tracksuit, and Reebok Classics is a hippy? Never understood that one, I used to get hippy shouted at me when I had a bic'd head, and clean colour co-ordinated clothes on?
Anyway totally off the beaten track, The Village used to just play anything and everything, apart from the shite that the Heli Hanson Jacket Brigade listen to. It was 80p for a pint on Thurday, a quid on Friday, and 1.50 on Saturday. Used to go all 3 night s sometimes, it was damn good fun, but Thursday or Friday was the best, Saturday nights there were a bit crap.
I remember me and my mates did a whole week of going out, Riverside (turned to Foundation, and now gone belly up) on Monday, Bulletproof on tuesday, Planet Earth on Wednesday, The Village the next 3 days, then round to some birds house for a party on Easter sunday. Was an interesting week, but I was proper fucked for about 2 weeks afterwards
Is it me getting old, or are night clubs a shaddow of what they used to be five or more years ago??
Well, you didn't really go to a nightclub, you went to Tiger Tiger, which is a chain of bars across the country to be avoided by the sane. You will only ever get wan*ers in that kind of place.
However, even going to decent clubs, good little gritty raver clubs, in Bristol, there is still the problem of people dancing backwards into you, not caring how packed it is and generally dribbling the night away on Ketamine.

Yep 100% agree. Tiger Tiger nowadays must be a super chav jungle/grime type of crappy club. Would never want to go in there at all, specially in my 30's.
The one i went to in London years ago wasnt bad, was totally wrecked though but far too many posers. Give me a decent little tiny club in a city which plays non-chart music anyday (and you can wear trainers).
Christ that club seems a nightmare, way too well lit, playing Stock Aiken Waterman, what a terrible club it must have been in those years !
Always have loved the indie clubs/80's clubs but not that sort of cheese in that video, terrible !!!
As all blokes cant dance, specially drunk i love the clubs which are a bit more darker. Also love the stroboscope lights at clubs as you can have a rest then and just move your arms every few seconds so people think youre sto;; dancing.

I pride myself in being no racist! (Okay, I'm a blue eyed blond English man so there is automatically everyone against me!), but I just want to punch that black guy with the white wig in the f*cking face! I'm sorry!
Tiger Tiger nowadays must be a super chav jungle/grime type of crappy club.
Hmm, I'd say the opposite. Full of 'RnB' types, sure, lots of plastic orange girls and tw*ts in shirts, but deffo no jungle or grime in there (excluding those artists who've crossed over to pop like Dizzee Rascal) - that's more my kind of thing. Not that I like grime much, I much prefer dubstep, but the jungle part of it appeals greatly.
At least you didn't post Roffo's Theme. Good choice with the Way Out West BTW.
EDIT: Was the guy in the wig called Clive or summat? Can't remember now.
PSJ - The Hitman and Her was bound to be playing Stock, Aitken and Waterman, as Pete Waterman was 'The Hitman' ;)
HMAH was occasionally worth watching though, through 1992 when they did the rave specials. Michaela Strachen was really shocked that everybody was on pills.
The Tiger Tiger in Newcastle plays shit like N-Trance, and Girls Aloud, and it's full of knobs with gelled forward hair, Kickers, and lacoste shirts.
Charvas on one side, wannabe charvas on the other, and usually a Hen Party somewhere in the middle with all of the monged out weekend raver types drooling over them.
Very sad indeed, shit atmosphere, full of drunken morons, the type who moon you then start a fight with you when you don't think it's funny.
Dunno what Tiger Tiger is like around the rest of the UK, but I don't expect it to be much better.
My work is holding the xmas night out in Tiger Tiger (Glasgow). I've never been but i've passed it quite a few times. It always seems really busy (and probably really expensive). To be honest i don't go to nightclubs anymore, i feel i'm getting too old for 'the scene'. I'm quite content with the pub.

Thats quite accurate for the cardiff one.
Tiger Tiger, have a feedback section on their website. You know I actually told them what I think, no holes bared.
what i hate is bars that THINK they are clubs. If i wanna dance and go and shout in someones ear all night I'll go to a club. If I want to have a proper conversation I go to a bar or pub.
I've had a few shitty nightclub experiences recently.Living in a seaside town, some fof our clubs are rather tacky and given that Scarborough has far more than it's fair share of chavs, things have gotten quite bad. We have Boleyns, with a mate described recently as "being full of mutton dressed as kebab" and is quite simply a cattle market. "The Rat Run" which has become the place to be seen to get beaten up in is everybit as bad as it sounds. It's full of those barn sized places (Baracuda, Blue Lounge etc) and the Quids Inn that has recently opened there is just the pitts. It's like the whole scum of the earth has decended into one shitty bar. Honestly, I've never seen so mant tracksuits an baseball caps in one place. Even JJB sports doesn't hold this mucch instock at one time! They laso serve "drinks" in those shitty plastic tumblers as that can't trust anybody with proper glass. Mansion is the school kids one and the "? a pint night" is a rip off as it cost's ?1 to get in and it's only larger, bitter ahnd hose shots that are a quid and if you don't drink them, the other drinks are upped in price.
in short, I don't bother going up town very often these days ;-)
when i used to go out, back in my heyday.........it was mostly a student night (stuff like arrested development, senser, ozric tentacles, stakker humanoid, levellers etc would be played)
looking back now i cant believe how much id take........we'd be out in the street / pubs drinking all day, then we'd roll like 10 spliffs each for in the club, then we'd drop a wrap of speed, and drink about 10 pints in the club
now im ready for bed on half a spliff, and pissed on about 7 pints lol
Professional Mel-the-Bell Simulator................"So realistic, I found myself reaching for the Kleenex King-Size!" - Richard Darling
I can't do it anymore, the body has given up. It doesn't process as efficiently as it used to, and it's a 48 hour recovery period for anything over 6/7 pints.
Back in the day it would be Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday absolutely no problem at all. Just a few hours kip required and up for work with a slightly thick head.
And nightclubs have always been shite. They used to be a late drink after pubs kicked out at 11pm, now they don't even know if they're a bar or a club.
i've always hated night clubs - the music is shite, and they have stupid dress codes.
the exceptions being Stairways in Birkenhead (r.i.p. - now just another generic night club called Zu) and the Krazy House in Liverpool because they weren't like that.
Give me a pub any day. :)
I go the krazy house most weeks tis a good thing when a moshpit gets goin and a unsuspecting chav gets pushed in :)
Does anyone feel as they are getting older that their dress sence is changing too. There are items in my wadrobe that depending on what mood I'm in I'll think I'm too old for that these days.
For example I have a dark blue long sleive top with a big flourescent nylon padded space invader on the front. It did look cool a few year back specially under UV light, but now I think christ I'm 33 should I be wearing that. I still doo mind.
I dunno I have a black T-Shirt with the Pac-Ghosts on it, I have 3 brown T-shirts 1 with Sonic that's made to look faded out, one with a NES controller on it that just says Gamer on it, and one with Pacman eating a cherry that says Munchies. I also have a Blue Polo shirt that has an entire print of the frogger arcade across the chest of it.
I've only worn the last one twice though, and I bought it in 2006
I almost got a T-Shirt with my Mile Sprite from MMM printed out, I would've done it if I had've made it to Retro-reunited.
i still wear punk tshirts....some really old knackered ones ive still got from like 1988 - 1992 era :P very tatty, holey and sleeves cut off tho
I think the oldest I have is a circa 96 Prodigy T that I still wear. My mate had a Ren and Stimpy T that he ruined on an early wear at a teenage party, and I think he still wears it round the house despite the still ingrained red wine puke stains (I think it's stained anyway and red wine seems right, it's deffo got a massive hole in it anyway).
Another mate has his own brand of Hip Hop themed T-shirts and hoodies that I tend to wear a lot these days.
I dont like wearing 'nerdy' t shirts out on a friday night, some arent bad if they have a small logo but other retro t shirts i have i just use to wear in bed.
My sister knows i like Star Wars so bought me this tacky star wars t shirt for my birthday where it also had 'tour dates' on the back, you know planets invaded etc. Sooooo geeky and she was stunned i told her i wouldn't be wearing it out. Again another 'straight to wear in bed' type t shirt.
I hardly wear logos but i cant stand t shirts with stuff on the back, bought a fair few t shirts from concerts i've been to, some look great but when you turn them around theres a whole list of tour dates which put me off.
During my 20's in the 90's you just wouldnt tuck your shirt in your jeans and I still dont know. It seems to be the 'norm' not to but i still cringe seeing 30 somethings with their shirt tucked in when their guts huge as well. Same with people who wear a decent shirt but seem to want to do every button up on it, even the top button (another no no !)
Well I just went to a nightclub!! Danced with a fine young lady, had sex in the toilet and then got blinding drunk on shots and ended up waking up inside a statue beside a beating heart, wearing a parachute and clinging to a metal cable!!! Best night I've had in ages....
It was in GTA4 though.....So maybe it's just real clubs that suck these days!?! :D

Classic. Love that Pendulum remix, pitty they never made a proper full length version :D

Nightclubs are just for picking up ass, they are not supposed to be enjoyed by married couples :)
