The casting of Anna, the Visitors leader, was inspired. She's well "spooky", for want of a better word.

She's a lot less mannish than the original supreme commander, and as far as I know she's never done a Gold Blend advert either :D

Ah, Pamela. Also in Beastmaster... With Marc Singer! :)

Despite the good words here, I'm still dreading this new, 'V'
    No Nazi overtones?
    No gleaming white shuttle craft?
No rampaging shock-troops in red and black armour?
    No ta.

(Keeping pessimistic, so that it'll be a nice suprise when I finally see it!)

You may be pleasantly surprised I went in with jade glasses and came out with them quite rosey.

Still I'm gonna give it another episode or 2 before I say it's great they still have plenty time to make a complete arse of it :D

Come on give it a chance ! If you feel like that after the first episode then fair enough but i think so far its very good. Watch it first !

The new 'V' is like having your favorite cup of tea... without the milk... or sugar... and made with water from the hot water tap instead of the kettle.... and a shopsmart tea bag instead of tetly or PG...

    KIDS PROGRAMME!

I take it Beccy doesnt like it !

Whats everyone else think ? I'm a fan of it, granted its only one show but re-doing a famous series from the 80's is always going to be a tough sale for some fans. Think the revamp does it justice but is 'current' to appeal to a lot of new fans.

Meh. I like the original. That doesn?t mean this version won't find its own audience...

STILL.... I am looking forward to the new Prisoner series... that looks good...

And yes Mr F. I do like kids TV best.

The original was possibly my favorite sci-fi series of all time. I have recently re-watched it and it was still ok, not as great as I remembered but it was still very watchable (the both mini series, not the really bad series that followed). So I was naturally very excited about the remake... I have been following the V sites for years now and they have been talking about V movies, new series, etc... it kinda felt like it was never gonna happen... but it did. It is a shame that Kenneth is not involved, but judging by the reviews of the latest book it might not be that bad thing either...
Even though it wasn't perfect I tought that the pilot episode was really good. They could of spent 2 episodes for it though, since they kinda told a bit too much in that one hour. The characters are all good, loved the suprises (the one at the end was really nice), and it seems that the ratings were sky-high, which can only be a good thing. Hope they can keep it up for the next 3 episodes, a shame that we will have to wait til after the olympics... anyway, I am definetly gonna enjoy this, even if it is 13 episodes only.

Yeah they did cram a ton into this first episode, a double one could have been good.

But like you say i'm glad its got good ratings. Its not just one season is it ? On the other hand i hope they dont stretch it out too long.

V the original series had a ton of fans but seemed to go downhill fast
  • edited November 2009
I sure hope it will be more than 1 season :) It was a 13 episodes order only though, so they will definetly not run out of good stories by the end of that.

Yeah, V the original series (not the two 2 part mini series) went downhill pretty much from the beginning. They even re-used the footage of the mini series, etc. to keep the cost down, but it was really bad writing that killed it off... hope this doesn't happen with the remake, they do seem to have good writers on-board now.

I mean back then the original V series was stunning, i hadnt a clue they were lizards until at the end when there was the famous scene with one eating a rabbit or something ? I remember watching that with my folks and we were all stunned by it.

Eventually got bored of it, remember tuning in once to see it and theres an alien marrying a human, all seemed totally bizarre. Wasnt Robert Englund in it as a visitor but i'm sure he was thick as anything, bit of a jar jar binks character ? Just seemed to go downhill.

Looking forward to it next week though but damn it'll be a frustrating wait after the first 4 episodes !!

Errr ... I thought it was common knowledge that "V" stood for "Visitors" ... err ... I think the VHS tapes may have had it on the back too.

Nah...just watched the whole first mini-series, and the crappy TV series that followed (where Donavan's son aged almost as fast as the "Star-Child") and although throughout the aliens are referred to as visitors, the "V" sign was only referred to as being a sign of victory and defiance...It probably did have a double meaning though, with the show creators meaning it to stand for both....

Oh, I don't feckin' know......But anyway, the new series sounds rubbish but I shall hold my judgement till I see it....

Please please download episode 1 to let us know what you think ! Dont listen to what other people say, make your own mind up ! Think its very good so far and looking forward to weds morning to download episode 2.

Sometimes you shouldnt touch a classic series all these years later but V so far has been very good

The "V" (the red spray-paint one) stands for Victory:

After showing you everything in the 1st episode lets just say the 2nd is showing you everything, whilst telling you nothing.

A good tension builder I guess.

This is looking like it has potential still, I'm probably gonna watch them all now even if they do put their foot in it.

Saw the first two episodes last night. Definitely has potential. Liked the fact they got the reptiles thing out of the way early doors. Everyone knows from the original what they are so there was not point in prolonging that.

I really like it, its a mix of the original V, They Live and Phantasm from the other episode. Shame theres just 4 episodes until a huge break because of the Winter Olympics.
