That all sounds vaguely familar, I'd never heard of them and only went cos there was a spare ticket going and fancied one of the girls that was going (she married an RAF officer).

    Such is life...
nah you just fancied yer scrotum being gaffa taped up and snakebite forced down yer neck :P

The Whole Story - Kate Bush

In the early 80s, King Kurt were known for their stage performances in which eggs and bags of flour were thrown around and buckets of wallpaper paste dumped into the audience. sometimes they also had a large wheel on stage called "The Wheel of Misfortune" which fans were strapped to and force fed Snakebite through a tube pushed down into the throat, then spun round until they vomitted. Fans could also get haircuts or medical examinations with a Snakebite anesthetic, then would have their scrotums wrapped up with gaffa tape and have buckets of gunge tipped over them.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Kurt

King Kurt came from the band Smeggy and the Cheesybits ( Another Brighton
band ) who did the original Elvis is dead, before Peter and the Testube Babies stole the idea. The flour throwing and eggings came from another band from Brighton who used to work at The Metropole hotel in Brighton, who used to borrow the flour and eggs from, the shaving foam attack came from the Hastings punk scene. Smeggy still has a website up and running called " The house of cheese " ( Another website which I swear has nothing to do with me ! but it has 11 early tracks from them on it ! ). The madness was just as bad in 1977 as smeggy and the cheesybits, with energetic stage performances and eggs and flour, especially outside a gig.

Nah, i was at the festival. They played it on the Tommy Vance (RIP) show a few weeks later. What a day!
Wasn't that the year Sepultura, The Wildhearts, Terrorvision, Therapy?, Aerosmith and Extreme were playing?

If so they played the whole thing live on radio 1 the whole day. Cue lots of apologies for the language every 5 minutes

That was a great day, I think Jo Whiley was there and Bruce Dickinson did quite a few interviews backstage aswell.

I think I still have the Aerosmith and Sepultura sets on cassette somewhere. I fucking hope I do anyway!!

Okay, maybe I'm thinking of '94 then, UKJ and Maiden weren't at the one I'm thinking of.
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

yeah I noticed theres a bonus dvd version. think I might order that instead of downloading it off amazon. I did a blog search to get a 'preview' of the album (ahem) , but it seems like columbia have put their foot down and deleted every single link, which is understandable I suppose...

I got my copy on import a few years ago. For those who havn't see/heard any of it, here's a taste from the end of the first half. Unfortunatly, due to several conflitcing rights issues, this will probably never see a DVD release, or get made into a film. I would be good to see it made into a film though. If done properly, it could be a real winner

Shame I bet any copyright issues would be with the companies that own the rights to the originals. Bruce "Ash" Campbell if he's seen this probably thinks it's great, he seems like a pretty easy going geezer when it comes to Evil Dead, and from what I've seen of him in the last few years he still can't believe it's so popular.

I think I read somewhere that it's not only to do with the film license's, but they also reference several band names in a couple of the songs and it might have something to do with that too. I do know that there a various online comunities that are trying to get a DVD published or for the show to go on tour, but again, it's the license thingy stopping that from happening.

Bruce Campbel has seen it and he's a huge fan. I'm not sure if Sam Raimi has seen it though.
