got to admit though , why Oz?!?! and the fact that laws on such things vary from country to country.

maybe they picked Oz coz his name is "Bruce"

I thought the company he was slating publically was based in Australia ?

I wont lose sleep if Bruce did get a huge fine, thought he was a complete t!t in the whole piracy thing on his blog a while back. Acted like a kid creating a fake blog page slating Stu Campbell and deleting and amending the comments directed at him.

It's explained in the blog post. There's absolutely no reason for the court case to happen in Australia, except that the libel laws there are messed up enough to a) allow it to happen there, and b) give Evony a good chance of winning (supposedly).

Incidentally, even though he mentions that Evony is a Delaware company, that's probably a red herring as well. As I recall, Delaware is supposed to be a very favourable state for businesses to register themselves in, even if they're not based anywhere near the place - I can't remember if it's the taxes, the courts, or both.

I hope Bruce comes out on top. He's still a hypocritical lying bastard, but he's fighting the good fight this time.

Yup, that's why most credit card companies have their HQs there, I think (or at least where one is supposed to send in ones CC application for processing).

Have you seen the default amount on his fighting fund! 20 quid, the cheeky sod, I wouldn't give him the steam off my piss!

I mean you can make it lower, but just having it set at 20 bills, what a goon!

I'm no expert, but I have found that collecting 'piss steam' is quite expensive and intricate - involving a make-shift fractional distillation column.

All the more reason not to give him it then!

Aside from that, if it all goes way down south, he would have to fork over the moolah to the Evony team.

Look. I've only drunk my own urine twice, and on both 'occasions' it was by accident.

I will NOT be associated with pictures of dead babies and Victorian Zombie Firemen.

Bruce made certain comments that he at first called THE TRUTH and later "allegations" about the intentions of the company behind the online game Evony and the software it installs. He is being taken to court in Australia for libel. He even started up a fund so people could give money to help him fight his defence, stating that it was an IMPORTANT LEGAL PRECEDENT being tested.

And as he claims credit for Codemasters' success, no doubt it'll be amazingly brilliant.

Which means that if the Evony group wins, then it's because of Mr. Everiss ...

Yup! I think someone should write a Speccy game based on the whole incident in "100% Machine Code!".

He'll take credit for Evony winning the case against him ... it was a rather flaccid jocular comment, to be honest.
