Two toy cows wanted

edited December 2009 in Chit chat
My mate got married yesterday to a very nice girl from Tanzania.
The African guests at the reception kept pulling his leg about a dowry of two cows for "her village" (the bride claimed she is worth far more).

The Groom is going to fly out to meet the Mother in law and 7 Brothers for the first in a few weeks so the Best Man and I want to get him a couple of cows from a kids farmyard set. Any ideas where we can get some from?

Thanks

Perfect but we only wanted the cows, as great as she is, even I can see that she isn't worth a whole farm!

    Thanks anyway.

If you have a Fenwicks near you they might sell em' seperate?

They used to have all those Britains toy sets in cabinets and you could buy all the farm bits induvidually?

here's a linky to Toy & Models farm animal page, might be useful?

These are sets but you can get 4 cows for 3.80?

Find an independent toy shop that sells this sort of farm animal separately. Something like Gamleys.
Or, LEGO do Freisian cows in a farm set:

Here's the PDF of the last section of the instruction book:
    http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/4551091.pdf

You can download it and look at the last page for the part numbers, or take the numbers I've listed below.

Then, call them on 00-800-5346-1111 and ask for Customer Services, Replacement Parts. Don't try to claim you've bought the set and parts were missing. Just list what you want and they'll give you a price. The part numbers you need are:

One of 4544462 - "Bag with 2 Cows No. 2" - This isn't in the instruction book specifically. It's a sealed bag with two cows and four horns, as they ship from the manufacturing plant in China.

Two of 300401 - "Brick 1x2", "White" - this is the white brick to fill the hollow space in the cow's back.

Two of 306901 "Flat Tile 1X2", "White" - this is a smooth tile to go on top of the brick to make it up to the right height.

(Though these last two you can probably find easily enough in anyone's old LEGO collection).

Total cost should be around ?3.40 for parts plus ?2 postage. These are some very cute cows. They do brown ones too. Let me know if you want the part numbers for brown instead:

And how exactly is he going to get two cows in a suitcase? :-P

Not familiar with Fenwicks but the link looks good, thanks.

In all seriousness, I don't know how remote the area is, they couldn't find it on a map, but then she may not have ever actually seen a map of her country (and I am not being funny here), so maybe actually buying two real cows for the village may be a possibility.

The Groom is a chippy/builder by trade so he may well be a bit practical whilst there, which I think he will secretly enjoy.

What was noticeable was that all the African guests had state of the art digital cameras, digital video recorders etc, yours truly was the only one who remebered to bring a film camera to get real photographs for his new in-laws.

Early Learning Centres and Mothercare tend to be quite good for this sort of thing. Um, so I've heard.

And they must cost the equivalent of a Rolls Royce, seeing as they don't list the price of the toys ... (If you need to ask how much it costs, then you can't afford it. -Ed)
