You don't see much of this these days....

When was the last time you saw one broadcaster putting up a "Good Luck" message for another broadcaster?

This was captured from 1983 when TV-AM launched and Channel 4 wished them luck. OK, so Channel 4 didn't start broadcasting until 4pm each day, but it's a nice gesture.

Ummm... I'm only talking about the slide you see - I'm not one of those people who are into test card music! :)

Although I *am* a sucker for old teletext (lowercase 't') footage...

    i've never seen the like.

you often get tv stars plugging other channel shows on, well, another channel.

watching that five show with ian wright the other day. the presenters were all saying they will be watching the x factor final, even though they work for channel 5.

suppose there isn't a great ammount of competition.

look at harry hills TV burp and all the other shows putting the 'knitted character' on their sets.

There was a time when C4 and ITV used to announce what was on the other channel going into an ad break.

I can remember when Day by Day the local news programe for Southern did it's last broadcast, and one of the letters they read out was from the BBC.

and, I also remember not so long ago when a Alan Bennet play was serialised and sown part on BBC and part on C4.

I'm secretly hoping that one of the teletext websites is capturing these final days...

I thought that was the 12th/13th. And Ceefax is still going, without the graphics, on some digital channel, I think.

Teletext (with a capital) is the name for the teletext (lowercase) service on ITV. That is finishing yesterday/today, on various platforms. Ceefax the BBC's teletext service is staying a bit longer on analogue.

Virgin Media haven't even got around to implementing theirs yet. It's been "coming soon" for years now.

That sucks. I remember when Teletext took over from Oracle. That sucked because I was used to Oracle and it had a few pages I used to go to every day. Teletext wasn't so bad though - they had Bamboozle!
