Plus it has Sinclair computers in it.

i think most of us here lived through an interesting time that I doubt will be repeated again.

look at the silly amount of machines released in the early 80's .. oh and games actually weren't a 3d engine with "subject" bolted on..

and yet some games remain playable even after so long :)

Is it me or does the melody sound like Coldplay's "Talk"...or rather the other way around like...?? The first 8-9 notes of "Talk" sound exactly like the first 8-9 on this Kraftwerk piece...

    Exhibit "A" : -

Or is it meant to and I'm losing the plot here??

EDIT : Scratch that..."Talk" was a homage based on "Computer Love" done with Kraftwerks permission. Carry on with your business...nothing to see here...

    Yes Coldplay borrowed it.

I own this on Vinyl. I went though a phase of listening to it everyday, best track is Numbers. Now I'm listening to Kraftwerk's Man Machine, but skip when 'The Model' comes on.

yeah, annoyingly The Model is the most played on radio/tv of Kraftwerk, and it's the worst track on the album.

I saw that a while ago, it's very good. I mean Bill Bailey's one. Not watched the other one yet.

I'm after the 1973 album Ralf and Florian on Vinyl. It did not sell well in the UK so is hard to find over here. Check out this track from it, its called Tongebirge (mountain of sound).

All it needs are some Dolphin squeeks and it's good enough for >= 30 year women (you know the type ;) ) who want to have a relaxing bath with all the candel and insence clap trap.

Heres an execllent preview of the whole album done in 10 mins with each track blended together very well.

I wish I knew the name of the font used on the UK version of Kraftwerk's Autobahn (1974)...

    kraftwerk-autobahn-2.jpg

...because it's the same font used for all of the official Timex releases almost a decade later (1983ish)

    auto.jpg
    bugscart.jpg

Although the Kraftwerk album appears to use a bold version of the font.

Good eye there! I think one of the Beeps on here is a specialist in fonts, maybe it's something he can answer ... it's either the one from Germany or Holland ( sorry I can't be any more help than that). I remember asking a font-specific question years ago which he easily answered (when the answer wasn't that easily found, imo)

    Hey - I'm not a Beep, Skruppy! :)

I guess I can identify around 95% of all fonts used in printed matter nowadays, but this Kraftwerk example is a blank. But I'll have a quick browse through some of my 1970s photo-compostion type specimen and see what I can find. There's a chance that this font has not been digitised though...

I've only listened to the first 30 seconds, but it sounds a lot like one of the tracks from the B side of Autobahn, Morgenspaziergang I think is the one I mean, after looking up the track listings.

Atleast ZX Spectrum 128 should have a proper picture and not a QL... and the first Amiga was not A500 but the A1000 ;-)

Found it! The font is called Tabasco.

A poorly digitised version is shown at http://fontpark.net/font/tabasco/en which lacks the prolonged capitals as well. The original came in two weights: medium (used on the Timex boxes) and bold (used on the Kraftwerk cover).

It's almost the same but not quite.

Sorry Paul van der Laan, you are not a Beep ... hey, at least I kinda sorta remembered where you're from! :p

And thanks again for the help :-)

That's because the example on the website doesn't have the prolonged capitals. In the original specimen of Tabasco that I have here (Letraset 1993) many capital letters exist in two versions: normal and with prolonged strokes on either top or bottom.

    Have a look yourself:

    Sorry Scottie_uk

EDIT That is to say I remember the song MrCheese is referring to but not yours.

Don't be sad, I'm just having one of my weird moments. I tried verbalising the drum riff from another Kraftwerk song. Obviously, the desired effect did not work.

Yeah, I get the idea well enough ;-) ... but which song is it? :-?

    [no longer sad, just curious]

I had no idea either and started to back away out of Scotties dressing room... :p

I did not get Mr Cheese's reference at first so was just joining in make silly noises.

I suppose it just a stereo typical primative electronic drum riff from Kraftwek. If I were to pick a song I suppose it would be this c64 sounding one.

I have that live DVD they released a few years back ... I thought it was kinda funny how they just stand there doing nearly nothing at all ... I imagined that they were just playing co-op Doom.

Thanks STeaM...I thought I had imagined that (much better in my opinion) alternative version of Talk...Nice to know I'm not going mad!
