well talking of games that never ended.. I submit Colony. You could play forever and not finish it, I played it most of a day once, amassing huge amount of money once I had permanantly locked the bugs out
Swainy, i could try use your graphics one day if you agreed.
Currently I have a bunch of other game projects to complete and I'm still learning how to code efficiently (let's face the truth, Double Dragon would be a difficult project). Besides real life takes more and more time away.
But I really love gang beateumps and it would be great to write one myself.
So maybe in 2011, when I finish other things and when I feel I'm strong enough to do it I would take your project.
Sounds good to me. As you say, it's a huge project and it would take up a lot of time. A year gives me time to get all the background graphics 100% ready (I too don't have half as much time on my hands these days)
Is there a tool that can split up images into smaller chunks to build level maps?

You can't quit or abort the game, or turn off the music. The music is OK at first, but after hearing it about 10 + times, I WANT A CHANGE OF FREAKING MUSIC!! Hell, even the Ghostbusters theme tune on the NES version of the game would be more entertaining to listen to - and WHY can't I quit the game or abort to the title screen!? That's terrible programming in my opinion.
Moonlight Madness -
The game crashes and resets to BASIC if you try to interrupt the save process - and you can't turn the music off either.
Crystal Castles -
If you load the B-side of the cassette, then you get the game files which contain the levels. However, if you load the game from the A-side AFTER loading the B-side, then the game files will be loaded, NOT the game.
Wizard Warz -
Sometimes the game loads, and sometimes it doesn't. When the "Stop the Tape" prompt appears after loading the 1st level, it crashes to BASIC occasionally, and sometimes the game looks like it's going to crash. The magazine covertape version included on the A-side of Sinclair User: Issue 108 - February 1991 suffered more ass-f*cking than the original commercial release - the covertape version sucked on 2 counts:
1. It was STILL in multi-f*cking-load
2. It was located at the END of the f*cking tape - why not have multiload games on a single side, and the other games on the other? F*cking hell.
Fruit Machine Simulator -
This game is NOTORIOUS for crashing mid-game. Sometimes when you're on a winning streak, the game pulls the plug and crashes to BASIC.
I think that should be enough to keep this thread going for a while.

Kind of like real life casino gambling, except with the speccy you don't get tied to a chair and beaten with billy clubs after being accused of cheating :D
Wanted! Monty Mole - If you walk off the bottom of the 3rd screen by taking the gap instead of the rope, you win a "spawn in a high place and fall to your death" loop. Hurrah!
The 128k version of Double Dragon 2 always starts of with the backgrounds inverted. If you die and start again on mission 1 the backgrounds are no longer inverted.

Well get FrankT to fix it then. And get him to fix Terra Cresta whilst he's at it!
Hes a top lad, he took Slapfight and slowed the bullets right down which made it a good game. Just ridiculous speed before.
Upon loading, a really slow jerky crap game appears on screen rather than the decent one that I was expecting.
Only hitting the reset button seems to fix it. :)
I had this problem too, is there any way to fix it? ;)
Yes, you either hit the reset button or the bloke who sold you the game.
Find me a decent programmer who is willing to re-code the entire game and I'll supply new graphics :)
I think graphics was done in this remake, but that the programmer is missing.
Spectrum 128k Double Dragon Remake
I daresay Swainy will find those graphics straaaaaangely familiar :)
I see. ;)
Yeah I'm gutted that it never happened! Maybe one day someone will offer their coding services.
Seems theres a lot of talented people here who can program games, create great graphics and also sound/music.
The music has already been done :)
As have all the sprites. I lost most of the backgrounds apart the first level but it wouldn't take me long to re-draw them.

Bollocks! :p

I don't think it ever crashed on mine. Used to play that game loads back in the day.
