Thought you guys might be interested in what I've been doing the last week or so.
Using the following documentation:
and the associated JGH jsw48.asm codebase, I've evolved the JSW engine to run a z80 map reversal routine before running the game.
The routine performs a rewrite of the screen and and guardian data as well as most of the graphics before running the program.

It is only an alpha at the moment. I've still got a problem with ropes to sort out (try getting past The Beach!), and my code base runs into the Title Screen data by about 256 bytes (no harm done). The compiled version has "death by guardians" and "death by falling" disabeld but I've left lives and "death by nasties" on.

Andrew Broad did something almost identical here
I was thinking about using a patch like this myself, as one of my older ideas that never got started needed the "Bog Run" in reverse. Alas I never got round to it, and I can't even remember what I was going to do with the game at all now?
