I threw the tape away a while ago, but I always liked the box, so I kept it.

Can you go into figures into how much you got for the games ?

Always thought programmers got a ton but they seemed to be paid a pittence. Were you paid just one sum for a game or was it , 5k up front plus 5% of sales etc ? Or was it eventually a small monthly wage at Ocean ?

I mean Cobra, Green Beret, Hyper Sports. What did you get for those ?

5K... pah, I got ?200 for Anfractuous and no royalties!

On the upside, I DID get a job at Players writing games into the bargain. Not so bad for a teenager.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Barbarian...

    ;)

Cheers for that, just interested in what programmers got back in the day. That 1000 quid for Pud Pud must have been amazing back then

Someone here recently mentioned N.E.X.U.S. being released in a rather snazzy box, although I've not actually seen it as I didn't have the original copy.

I really liked the pic on the Fairlight box & adverts - quite a simple design but I thought it added a bit of atmosphere before you start playing the game.

One thing that always mystified me was the Heavy on the Magick artwork.

Does anyone know why the artist seemed to have missed out the guy's arm and then later daubed it on a bit tattily? Look at the game inlay & then the advertisement and you'll see what I mean. I think it looks better without the arm.

Eh that is weird..... Ah...if you look closely on the advert...the arm is actually black....it's there but hard to see.

There's also an 'egg splat' on his left knee on one of them, and the 'book' in the background has "DIY Magic" on one version and "Magic Theory" on the other.

Blimey, never noticed any of that before.

This artwork reminds me of those 'hidden object' PC games you can buy. Maybe there's a list of objects on the side of the screen somewhere but they cut it off for the ad...

The Ultimate ones were the best. Especially liked Cookie, Atic Atac, Underwurlde and Gunfright but Pentagram looks odd. It looks like the original intended cover is printed 6 times with the game logo in the middle.

Some of the later Imagine games and earlier Ocean ones are very nice too.

I thought Last Ninja 2 had a nice looking box. These days I still react when I see the World Trade Center towers..
